RE: DU'S WEEKEND FESTIVITIES
Hello all,

Could somebody please give me an updated list of what's happening at the weekend regarding the gatherings that are taking place? I got a message from Lynne earlier saying that I needed to update the home page, which I will happily do, but I'm rather confused about what's happening where, and that doesn't really bode well for people figuring out where to go.

This is what I think is going on at the moment, according to the most recently updated list on brainshrub's website:

FRIDAY:

"Loungeing Liberals" meet-and-greet @ The Hawk and Dove (329 Pennsylvania Ave. SE)

SATURDAY:

"Pancakes w/ Progressives" breakfast @ COSI (301 Pennsylvania Ave., S.E.)

DUers assemble at Washington Monument. Look for the DU banner... you won't miss it.

"Hookah and Holler" party @ The Prince Café (4629 41st. Street NW)

"Mother of all DU Meetups" party @ RFDs (810 7th Street. NW)

Is this correct? And is it likely to change again before the weekend? Please let me know.

Thanks,
EG

Yes, the info is correct.

It's all here, complete with descriptions and maps:

www.brainshrub.com/dcdumeetup

As I get information, I'll be sure to update the site.

2. So how are the Saturday night functions divided?
Is one going to be mostly Lounge people and the other mostly GD people?

Is one going to be mostly MIHOP and the other LIHOP?

Is one going to be mostly Clinton supporters and the other Clinton bashers?

3. LOL
I think the Prince Cafe meetup is pretty much for smokers and the one at RFDs for anyone. I'm not sure, just a guess.

I think since the Hookah Bar involves smoking, it will be MIHOP. RFDs is a more beer-related activity... so that would make it LIHOP.

6. I just received an e-mail from EstimatedProphet
as follows:

>>I am PMing you because I have you listed as interested in
>the
>>September 24th DU meetup. I wanted to make sure you were
>aware
>>that the venue has been changed to Café Prince, 4629 41st.
>>Street NW, Washington, DC-1 block from the Tenleytown metro,
>>Red line, beginning at 8:00 pm. The event was moved from
>RFDs,
>>which became logistically impossible.

So that looks to me like there's only ONE meet-up on Saturday night. Am I correct?

I was very confused by the double messages. :) Closer in works better for me in anyway, since I won't have a vehicle.

7. follow-up to my inquiry if this was different from Hawk & Dove
"Yes. Hawk and Dove will be going Friday night. Cafe Prince is Saturday night, instead of RFDs."

10. Okay, now I'm confused
Isn't RFD's still on? I understood from brainshrub's site that there are two separate events. Cafe Prince doesn't strike me as a good place for a nonsmoker with asthma.

11. RFDs is still on
Please stop by.

I'm not trying to compete with the other party but I've had other with the same concerns including myself. I also have people who want someplace nearby they can stop by since they are heading home that night and the other place is somewhat out of the way.

I plan to be at RFDs around 7pm probably near the patio so I can get some fresh air from time to time (I'm not use to smoking in bars - I'm from Delaware) or even possibly hang outside.

I'll probably hang out for an hour or so and then I'm heading back to the Mall since the protest will be going on until 2 in the morning.

21. Earl make sure I get the DU banner sometime before Saturday
And do you still have that original banner that you and Skinner carried on that fateful day back in 2001 when you decided to create this monster website?

The other banner is one I got for the March for Choice. It looks exactly like the Purple/Yellow banner in this picture but has Democratic Underground on it

For what I paid for the thing might as well get some use out of it

23. Well, one definate banner
DU first started on that first bush criminal activity back in Jan 2001. Skinner & EarlG marched around the protest holding a giant size banner that said Democratic Underground.com.

I don't know if they still have that banner or not.

24. All I have is a DU button and a tank top.
We need some ways to find each other.

Excuse me if this has already been posted but has anyone designated a meet-up spot yet since I believe most DUers will be interested in marching together.

:D

15th & Madison but go across the street from the Souvenior shop. We'll be in that general area starting around 11am

But we're also meeting for breakfast at Cosi so we can all get caffienated up before we head over. I'll be there around 9:30am but we're leaving at 10:30 to get to the protest.

:D
