So, is anyone else flooded out? |
|
If you don't live south of I-72, it's hard to describe the torrential rains we've had, the flooding, etc. . For a while Saturday and Sunday, getting from here (the county seat) to 'there' was like the punchline of the old joke: "You can't get there from here".
We're STILL under a flash flood warning until tomorrow night, and various state highways are either closed or closed periodically. Two small villages along the Kaskaskia River (Humboldt and Cooks Mills) were evacuated, and everyone who lives along the Embarras River both up- and downstream from the Lake Charleston dam were also evacuated: there was serious concern that the dam might not hold.
So, how is it where y'all are?

1. We keep expecting the Fox to go high, but it's not bad yet. |

I live a block from it. I still think all that water north of us has got to be coming this way. But so far, so good.
How are things there now?

2. Things are somewhat better... |

On a scale of 1-10 for bad, last weekend was a 9, but today it's around 5 or 6.
