Former cop says he ran porn business
Source: Chicago Sun-Times

How does a dirty cop try to make ends meet while he waits for his prison sentence?

Pornography — at least in former Officer Richard E. Doroniuk’s case.

Doroniuk testified today that he applied to the City of Palos Hills for a business license to run a modeling agency.

On the application, he said the woman working for him would be performing secretarial work, but he lied, according to his testimony in federal court.

“I wanted to run the business in a different manner,” Doroniuk said, adding that he actually wanted to run a business shooting pornographic photos.

Doroniuk, who was arrested by the FBI in 2006 and has been free on bond since, said his porn business started out in his apartment, but he wanted to expand.

It was not clear whether his application was rejected. Palos Hills officials did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

Doroniuk, who has pleaded guilty to robbing drug dealers, is a government witness against his former partner, Mahmoud “Mike” Shamah, who is standing trial on corruption charges.

Doroniuk also testified that he paid a judge for search warrant and that he was on a drug raid when officers arrested a Chicago firefighter in November 2005. Doroniuk said he stole money from drug dealers during the raid. He said money was taken from the firefighter, but did not say how much or what the unnamed firefighter was charged with.

2. Stealing from drug dealers.
What's the world coming to that even drug dealers can no longer make an honest living without getting ripped off?

3. I don't want D.U. to come accross as bashing the brave
police who get such bad images for this type of criminal behavior, but there is a sentence that keeps running through my mind: You just can't make this stuff up.

11. Reminds me of Pittsburgh 20 years ago, and the fight "massage parlors"
An ex-Fireman and a Person known as "Tex Gill" (Born Lois Gill but insisted she was male but never had any surgery done) were fighting over the then thriving business of providing massage parlors on Liberty Avenue in Downtown Pittsburgh. The two had a nasty fight going on, including bombing each other business establishments (Carried on the local news with distance picture of the massagtresses in their flimsily attire as there left some of the places bombed). Finally the Pittsburgh Police has enough and started to crack down on both person's establishments (And redevelopment money was found to buy up the old massage parlors and move that part of Downtown Pittsburgh upscale).

Notice of Tax Gills death in 2003, the only reference I found on the net on him/her:
