Beware of the Westmont Fire Chief Frank Trout
Edited on Thu Jun-04-09 02:39 AM by orleans

obama supporter? gay? single mother? don't have a fire if you're living in westmont illinois

Trout..."could be in hot water after he made comments at the village of Westmont Memorial Day ceremony that some in attendance considered to be inappropriate, according to a local Democratic Party group.

"Trout, a veteran of the Vietnam War, served as the grand marshall of the Memorial Day Parade and gave a speech during the ceremony afterwards, said Westmont Park District Director Ron Gunter, who co-organized the event.

"In a statement released by the Downers Grove Township Democratic Organization, backed by several people at the event, Trout was criticized for the speech, where he allegedly compared the nation, under President Barack Obama, to a socialist state, and spoke out against the United Nations, single mothers and gay citizens."

~snip~

"Mark Garrity of Downers Grove, a Democrat who unsuccessfully ran for Downers Grove Township supervisor in April, was in attendance and heard Trout’s comments. Garrity said Trout’s comments would be more welcome, at “a right-wing extremist militia camp out in the forests of Idaho somewhere” and were not appropriate for a Memorial Day ceremony.

“His comments wouldn't even have been appropriate for a Republican political rally let alone a public Memorial Day service in Westmont,” Garrity said.

(damn, you're good mark!)

1. We've got BIG TROUBLE right here in DU PAGE COUNTY!!!
Maybe the big fish would be a bit smarter if he cut back on the Domino's pizza while playing checkers at the stationhouse. ;)

2. and the good news is...
"It seems to me some of you Republicans just can't stand the fact that in a few short years your guys messed up this country so badly that you lost the grip on power that Karl Rove thought he could make into a permanent Republican majority. And maybe you're frightened that your little pay to play machine here in DuPage is next. Well you're right, it is next. Single party rule in DuPage is coming to an end. You'll have to get used to that too."

combine that with this:

maybe change is, indeed, in the air.

4. in a follow-up article:

"In a public address to the Westmont Villager Board, Fire Chief Frank Trout said he is sorry for offending anyone who heard his political speech during the village’s Memorial Day ceremony, which drew criticism.

"But Trout still believes he did nothing wrong and said he has had numerous phone calls supporting his speech. He also said his speech was not speaking for the Westmont community at large.

“I was speaking as a private citizen and a veteran, and I don’t believe I said anything that was wrong,” he said in an interview Monday, June 1.

"Trout issued a statement May 28 during the public comment section of the Westmont Village Board meeting, where he offered an apology for offending residents with statements he made during the ceremony.

“It was not my intention to bring discredit to the village of Westmont or offend any of its residents, our veterans or those who participated in this service,” he said at the meeting. “I apologize if I did not articulate my thoughts properly, and they were misinterpreted by some.”

(...so basically, some of us democrats are just so damn touchy! )

the mayor...
"Rahn said Monday, June 1 that he does not foresee any further action taken by the Westmont Village Board against Trout."
