So glad to see you again! Glad also to get the skinny per the name - can so much more appreciate (just was slow on the uptake.) Seeing you, and IG (who I met about a year later) feels a bit like the closure of one circle allowing for the growth of a whole new circle per what being a DU hoosier (in person) means. That may not make sense - but it is feels like the merger of a once small, and somewhat isolated few into something that is more like a growing entity. Given that as a homegrowner - who has left (and lived in more progressive areas) who has returned and felt a bit (at times) like I have returned to a foreign land (over the past, but recent years) it is like first finding a small cadre of similar thinking folks and suddenly three years later (yikes!) finding a growing community - and the sense that one is not quite so isolated in mind than as one thought. Long way of trying to say - I am so glad the DU Indy meetup is a reality - and it was special to see both new and "old" faces - brought things together for me... and what a grand group to come together with. (And there is something to be said about being with the group, and being able to look across at the Statehouse - symbolically, very cool!)

8. A Progressive Oasis

I’ve spent most of the last twenty years getting pissed off, disgusted and eventually completely disillusioned with our political process. I’m afraid that if it weren’t for the people of DU I would have given up and drank the Kool-Aid, had a lobotomy, or simply regressed into whatever primitive state of mind required for accepting the republican agenda, a long time ago.
