Indianapolis: Among Top 5 Cities Needing "Green" Help

"With no green building movement to speak of, only five community gardens and a meager 2 percent of people using public transportation (according to SustainLane), Indianapolis could certainly benefit from a green revival. A promising and visible omen is the roof of the Indianapolis Museum of Art’s parking structure, which is planted with extensive greenery to reduce runoff, mitigate the heat-island effect and add beauty. And in February, Indiana bought enough green energy credits to account for 7 percent of the electricity consumption for Marion County, which includes Indianapolis and many state buildings.
