(OK, I think it's safe to talk...I'm an ordained fundy atheist evangelist missionary, I'm in deep cover but I'm afraid the church police may be on to me...wait...no...stop!...praise jebus! praise jebus!)

Just kidding.

Being raised without religion in the heart of bible country has given me a slightly warped sense of humor.

The A&A group here on DU gives me a much needed reality check in what seems to be an increasingly irrational society.

I've lived in Indiana almost all of my life, currently in Speedway.

I used to live right across from the Conkle (Konkle?) funeral home on W. 16th St. back in the 80's. The sun would rise above Stand E.

The insanity level today is far worse than I've ever seen it.

I think it's a combination of NutraSweet rotting people's brains so they want to kill people with their bare hands and Zoloft/Prozac numbing their emotions. I know that I used to have the urge to shadow box frequently back when I drank diet pop but since I quite no longer have that compulsion.

6. How'dee!!!
So there is not many Indiana Atheist around I take it?

I would really like to form a local Atheist group, in Terre Haute. CFIindy is a bit far to really get anything going, unless they would be willing to start a satillite location.

I am just ill from the religiosity of Terre Haute, there is no visible counter to it and I think it is time for some reason around here.

5. I'm across the river
near Robinson, IL. I am currently exploring my beliefs, but atheist is definitely closer to describing them than anything else! My most recent attendance at a church, (other than funerals or weddings), was in 1985, and I hadn't been for many years prior to that. My rational mind rejects any organized religion.

7. Right on....
There is no requierment for anyone to hold superstitious beliefs at all and it is no gain nor is it any bit of a lose either. I know the stigma, that since that you have to have some sort of belief in gawd or jeebus, it is just a product of the enviroment which we were raised. Even though my parents never attended church (accept for Weddings and Deaths), it was always just a commonality for others that I had to have some kind of belief in gawd.

For a very long time I considered myself to be Agnostic and spiritual, somewhat believeing in the supernatural. about a year and a half ago, reality kicked in. It was all do to my own conclusions but then I read THE GOD DELUSION and that was the last nail in the coffin. Since then I have had no regrets and I am not shy about denouncing all superstitious nonsence.

So c'mon on in, the water is fine!!

Starting an area Atheist Coalition would be great, this area needs one bad.
