The whole Hillary not tipping flap |
|
What town is this maid-rite in? If we are in the area I'd like to stop and wish her well and leave a tip!

ABC (and I think maybe CNN too) incorrectly reported that it happened in Marshalltown, but I was at the MaidRite in M'town last night and asked - they told me it was in Toledo (I jokingly asked if Hillary put ketchup on her maidrite - you'll appreciate that if you're from Marshalltown).
She did leave a tip for the whole staff, but the waitress who spoke to the media had not, for some reason, gotten her share.
I doubt the MaidRites in Toledo are nearly as good as those in Marshalltown, but I hope Senator Clinton enjoyed it anyway.

2. She was supposed to take a pee at a small restaurant in our town |
|
but her advance staff came in and checked the place out and decided it was 'not fit' for her. The entourage was contacted and she bypassed our town. Word of mouth has reached nearly everyone in town and I believe many felt slighted. The owner is new. I never asked her how she felt. It is just a small ice cream shop on the edge of town.

3. That's taking things a little personal if you ask me... |
|
And I realize you didnt...
I've ran recon of the bathroom facilities for my mother and my girlfriends before... obviously I just use the guys and use that as a basis.. but there have been many places that weren't up to par over the years, and I would sure hope an entire TOWN wouldn't take offense to that.
This type of hyper-criticism is what makes politics ugly, IMO.

4. 54 days and Seth gets to be one of us again |
|
However, I agree w/you.
We've had dinner plans w/candidates who have 'been too tired' to follow through and then we've found out that the candidate went to dinner at a different location with the staff. Should we presume the candidate was trying to get out of dinner w/us or that they just needed a break?
I know not quite the 'bathroom' situation, but human beings change their minds or don't want to go the bathroom in some places or don't want to eat in some places. Bah, we're deciding who is our best choice for the Democratic nomination - bigger issues than which town they eat and pee in.

8. Yes but it's just that kind of petty stuff that sways ordinary voters... |
|
so it wouldn't surprise me if a large portion of W.Liberty holds it against the Clinton camp. I'd like to think most average voters look past that kind of stuff, but the truth is, outside of DU most people live and breath by those sound bites on the evening news.

and it's really not fit for anyone. They try - it's pretty clean, but it's REALLY small and stuck in the back by the furnace or water heater or something. It seems creepy. The kids use it when we go for ice cream or dinner, but I've never used it, and would avoid it at all cost. :)

I refer to the men's room at our Community Center as the Harkin Senatorial Restroom, 'cause he used it when he arrived at an event there a few years ago (I only know this 'cause I was waiting to introduce him to the crowd). Say - too bad Hillary couldn't have used the ladies' room at the community center (mere blocks from the ice cream place) - it's very nice. :)
Hang on, Debi - only 52 days!

6. Can't beat the Maid Rite in Marshalltown |
|
Hillary was coming to an event in Marshalltown and stopped in Toledo on the way. The Marshalltown event began at 2:30, so it would have been too late for lunch.
