William J Meyers for House 2008
I'm a veteran of the war in Iraq and a resident of Ames, Iowa. About a month ago I started helping out with William J Meyers campaign for congress (IA-04). William J Meyers is from Humboldt and is also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. I think he has a lot of solid ideas for health care, immigration, and economic reform, but the thing that really drew me to him was his fervent belief that Veterans Health care needs to be reformed. There is no reason that vets should have to drive hundreds of miles to wait in line for health care.
There are not many people on the hill that will actually stand up for veterans rights. William J Meyers has the ability and the will to get it done.
Also, I cannot stress the importance of keeping and expanding our majority in the houses. The only way we are going to be able to get things done is to have a democrat in office and a 60% majority in both houses. IT CAN BE DONE!

If you would like to know more about Meyers or would like to help, here is his site

Or you can leave a message below... We need a very strong and very unified force to beat Tom Latham in the fall.

Lets take back the Fourth!,

1. You've got my moral support
About all I have to share right now. I believe I saw in the Jane Norman column a couple weeks ago that Latham had the highest percentage voting for Bush, something @ 95%. Latham needs to go.
It would be nice to see Steve King all by himself in Iowa spouting his insane rhetoric.

5. Steve King
I was in Sioux City last week and ran into Steve King at lunchtime at a local restaurant. My partner (I am gay) and I were waiting in the lobby at the same time he was waiting for his table. Our good friends (a straight couple) offered us $100 bucks plus our lunch if we started making out in front of him. Although it was tempting, we declined.

I did read late last week that Steve King may actually be running for Senate against Harkin. He said he would make up his mind in the next month. Could we be so lucky?

Great article, well-written, thanks for sharing!

8. Story County Soup Supper
Went great, we met a lot of new people and were able to get a dialouge established with the other democrats running. There may be four of us, but we are very unified in putting a democrat in our congressional seat, and kicking Tom Latham's butt.
