http://kmaland.com/localnews.asp(Washington) -- Energy talks continue at the Nation's Capitol amongst Republicans while Democrats are in recess. Meanwhile Southwest Iowa Congressman Steve King is named a "Friend of the American Motorist" by the Americans for Prosperity Freedom from Foreign Oil scorecard, which ranks U.S. Representatives based on their support for - or opposition to - policies that would lower gas and energy prices by increasing American energy supplies. King achieved a perfect 100% score on the group's scorecard...
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and the Democrats adjourned the House, turned off the lights and killed the microphones, but Republicans are still on the floor talking gas prices. GOP leaders opposed the motion to adjourn the House, arguing that Pelosi's refusal to schedule a vote allowing offshore drilling is hurting the American economy. They have refused to leave the floor after the adjournment motion passed last month. Republicans are imploring Pelosi to quote "come back to work". King says the public has filled the seats on the floor of The House to capacity. The stand is now in it's third week. King feels it is effective. He refers to Pelosi's interview this week with Larry King in which Pelosi mentioned she is considering a compromise. King says an open energy bill is desperately needed for every American motorist.
