I think we lost a right wing talk station here in the Quads |
|
Edited on Wed Aug-20-08 07:24 PM by Bluzmann57
I'm sitting here listening to the Cubs on KJOC (Cubs are my addiction) and they keep having announcements which say, "Stay tuned to KJOC after the game for the greatest hits of the '50's and '60's" or something to that effect. This station was particularly odious as they carried Boortz, Bennet, Savage, and O'Reilly. I hope those assholes are off my airwaves. And if this station has indeed changed formats, I think they should change again. To progressive talk. I'll keep everybody posted.

JOC - jock? Isn't there already 3 RW talkers in the QCA? Plus 3 or 4 all-religion stations? And the only lefty talker became an all-spanish religious station a year or so back? I turn on KDLM from time to time just to sharpen my witty answers to the goddies. edit to add - I hear rumblings that clear channel is in some trouble after the takeover by that Romney company fell through. Maybe you could get some folks together and buy a station?

4. Yes, it was an all sports station |
|
And a pretty good one at that. But before that, it was known as KSTT which was a legend in QC broadcasting. Spike O'Dell, Milo Hamilton, Wayne Larrivee and many other noted broadcasters got their start at KSTT. Yes, the lefty talker became a spanish all religion station but I think now it's just a Spanish language music station. I am aware of only one RW talk station in the immediate QC's. WOC. I called them the other day and explained that rush absolutely sucks. Fuck KDLM. I can just barely afford to put gas in my car, let alone buy a radio station. Besides, it's owned by Cumulus. And they may be more RW than Clear Channel.

7. KSTT!!! There's a blast from the past!! |
|
When I was a kid, I listened to the Beatles, the Monkees, the Stones, and so much more on KSTT! I had a little, pink transistor that was ALWAYS tuned to KSTT! What memories!

As a kid, I, LITERALLY lived right up the hill from KSTT/97X. I lived in the 800 block of College. The station was at the bottom of Oneida on River Drive. (This is when it was located on River Drive.)
There was nothing better at the time. I had just moved in to this house, at 12 years old, had no kids living in the neighborhood my age...so, I became friends with a few of the DJ's. Used to get free t-shirts, 1st edition bumper stickers, free music, tickets, etc. Quite the life for a kid...the smell of the Wonder Bread facility and the tunes on the radio. It was what made me get in to radio as an adult.
I'm no longer on the radio...but it was just as fun as an adult as it was watching it as a kid.
Ahhhhh...Back to when life was a little simpler.

6. Yeah. I listen sometimes |
|
This neighborhood isn't exactly conducive to great radio reception. But as I said, sometimes I listen. I even got some window stickers from them.

8. WCPT - I can get most times |
|
I can get WCPT most of the time, but it's pretty staticy unless I'm out on one of the highways (61/67/etc). I have a Sirius in the car because I have to drive a bit for work and get all of those hosts right now except for Rachel. Because I really like Steph I got the podcasts so I can listen to her when I like.
