Oh Noes. It's a scandal!
Mari Culver admits breaking ban by smoking in state SUV

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Iowa first lady Mari Culver has admitted she violated the state's smoking ban by smoking in a state-owned vehicle.

Gov. Chet Culver signed the ban into law in April, and on Thursday his wife released a statement saying she had quit smoking last year but restarted a few months ago and smoked in a state vehicle.

Mari Culver said she regrets the mistake and promises that it won't happen again.

The Des Moines Register reported that Culver was seen smoking in a black SUV the state provides to her family. Culver was in the passenger seat with the window rolled down. A state trooper was driving.

Culver declined to comment beyond the statement released by a spokesman, who did not comment about whether she would be fined.

1. I'll w/hold my opinion of the law and enforcement of the law
but will say that First Lady Mari Culver requested to be cited according to the law and will be paying the fine.

2. Ah, Mari Culver...
She was a very nice girl in high school, and I'm sad to see that she hasn't kicked her smoking habit!

She truly was a wonderful person in high school--way beyond her years. Fun, and smart as hell.

We were on the same cheerleading squad one year in high school.

5. No thanks
Mari Culver smoking a cigarette is bad enough. In fact, it's awful. But here in Iowa, the real scandal is that Steve King is still a Representative. Yes, he won the majority of votes, but he makes us look bad and he just plain ol' sucks. Hmmm...wonder if we could somehow tie him into Blago? Nah, wouldn't work.

6. Oh, yeah. That's right. You've got Steve King.
The question is who's crazier...him or Blago? I can't decide without giving 'em both MMPIs.
