Waaah....waaah...mean Pat Murphy cleared the public galley
The Republicans are going around crying a river about how mean Pat Murphy was in clearing out the public galley of the house after he enforced the House rules regarding protesting or advocating in the House chambers. This was after the crowd in the galley interrupted the proceedings several times.

And thanks what did Speaker Murphy get for his trouble? People like Ed Failor Jr. calling him a "...jack booted Nazi." Give me an F-you-know-what-ing break. If the Speaker was a Republican Failor would probably be hailing said Speaker's actions as the greatest thing since sliced bread.

1. Ed Failure the lesser is such a little asshole.
I think it is so funny that people who would kill to avoid paying taxes, especially because they believe some human parasite will get a nickel of their precious money, are more than happy to support this true human parasite.

2. This whole session has become one big (not so funny) joke
Time to throw in the towel and go back to the drawing board. x(

What a mess.

4. I needs me some skinny on this.
I am not sure how it is a mess except they don't seem to be bringing up any progressive bills and the time is passing.

6. We have a week or so left of the session
It's a little late to start planning. And thanks to the DINOs in Des Moines no progressive legislation will pass anyway.

5. agreed
I totally agree (as usual) with Debi. I truly believe the Iowa House Dem Caucus needs new leadership. Murphy has let the same 5-6 people f*ck our progressive agenda for 3 sessions now. The time to lead is now. The sign of a true leader is being able to make an unpopular decision, and then defend it. Murphy is unable to do that, or more importantly compel his caucus to do it.

Obviously, those that know me, know that I am part of "Big Labor." The Labor issues are important to everyone. Especially the Work Comp choice of doctor, every single working Iowan would see benefit from this. Yet, for 3 sessions, the Dems can't find 51 votes. "Fair Share" would affect less than 10 percent of Iowa's represented (Unionized) workforce, which is hovering at about 9 percent of the total workforce.

Gronstal would have cleared his chamber with the first outburst. Murphy let it go on way too long. Punishment is best served severely and immediately.

I think change from within would be good for the House dems.

I've had my rant. Thanks for listening.

7. I don't hold Murphy solely responsible - I feel there is a real disconnect
with the leadership of the Democratic Party and those they are to be leading. (why is the IRP all over the place and we hear nothing from the Democrats? And where is the Governor of Iowa and his staff? I don't want a damn press release or to have to go to the web site - I want to see and hear and KNOW that the members of my party are working on these issues.) Thank goodness for Facebook or I wouldn't even know that there are Democrats in Iowa anymore.

I think we need to take a closer look at who we are recruiting to run as Democrats. Obviously 'just' having a Democratic majority isn't enough if those we got elected w/a D behind their name won't vote with our party or on the issues most important to us.

I too am a fan of Labor - and believe ALL the Labor bills should have been passed (and would have helped ALL Iowans). I remember when the prevailing wage debate was going on the GOP labeled members of Labor in the gallery as 'Union Thugs' and complained about their presence and that they were making too much noise during the debate. Funny - now - how an organized group from the Iowans For Tax Relief show up to purposely create chaos and then complain about their 'free speech' rights being diminished when they get booted for disrupting the proceedings. They are called 'tax paying citizens' (like members of Labor don't pay taxes....okay Ed Failor, Jr. whatever you say :eyes:)

I hope next session will prove more organized and more successful.

9. We have someone named Roeder as a spokesman for Big Lug
who issues some meaningless statement every so often. Some other muckamucks have spokespersons too. Issuing statements to the anti-union DMR which is itself a symbol of failure and disconnection.
