1. Democrat Olson is a Right Winger in Disguise!!!
Today i received an e-mail today from a letter a fellow progressive that touched on what i think we already know... The politicians of this state have no spine, will not stand up to their rhetoric...

Too many times we in Iowa have seen as our people's party, the dumbocrats have failed to give us a fair and equal Iowa!!!

Being an outspoken and active citizen of Iowa I have been disappointed in the compromise of the left in our great state.

We have bigots and fascist taking up the cause of creating a new dawn of American society. Being a worker not a speaker I will leave the e-mail to speak for itself.

2. copy of e-mail
Dear Progressive Activist,

I can’t believe what I see happening in Des Moines.

Our progressive values are being sold down the river for a
far, right-wing agenda consisting of racial profiling and gun
toting on our streets and in our communities. You see,
Democrat Representative Rick Olson - who represents your House
District 68 - is actually writing a bill that would allow all
sorts of people to carry concealed guns anywhere.

The fact is, he’s been working hand-in-glove with Clel Baudler
- a right-wing NRA board member and state representative from
rural Iowa - to pass a bill that will weaken our gun laws and
put more guns on our streets.

You see, according to a recent article in the Des Moines
Register, Representative Olson is actually WRITING this
dangerous legislation for Clel Baudler and the other gun nuts.
And that same article included a poll that said half of
Iowans oppose changing Iowa’s gun laws to make it easier for
crazy gun owners to carry in the streets.

So why is Rick Olson hell-bent to appease these reactionary
groups?

You see, we Democrats have strong majorities in both the State
Senate and State House. Instead of putting more gun toters on
our streets, the legislature ought to be putting a system of
free, community-based health care centers in every city and
town in Iowa. No matter what happens in Washington, DC, Iowa
needs a single-payer health care system that treats all Iowans
the same. Rick Olson should be leading the way to remove the
power that greedy, profit-driven health insurance companies
have over Iowans!!!

Personally, I’m tired of these angry old white guys roaming
the Capitol with their boozed-up looking red noses or
schmoozing pretty girl lobbyists at cocktail parties. Let’s
tell Rick Olson to put people over profits!

But the trend this year is that our gun laws will get worse
and our dream of a society that leaves all our citizens safe
and free from radical gun nuts will come to a grinding halt.

All of your hard work over the years will be wasted! So what
will Rick Olson do next? Go on the Steve Deace show to talk
about how conservative he is? Hire Karl Rove as his campaign
manager?

But Rick’s attack on our Progressive values doesn’t stop with
his support of a radical, gun-nut agenda. Rick is also
supporting a texting while driving ban that will only give aid
and comfort to intolerant cops who can pull someone over and
harass them by claiming they were texting.

You see, I found out about this texting ban when I heard
about the calls across Iowa alerting us to the danger of this
law.

And how it will be used by unaccountable police who might have
a racial focus in the way they apply our laws. Instead of
pushing a texting ban that hides a racial-profiling agenda
behind a safety facade, Rick Olson should be working for
community-based, people-oriented mass transit solutions. In
fact, Des Moines - all of Iowa - needs green transportation
alternatives that will allow under-privileged, oppressed
people from our communities to work and shop just like the
folks in Clive and West Des Moines. This way people can text
and travel in a holistic way that truly makes us OneIowa.

The good news is, there’s something we can do to stop Rick
Olson from turning Iowa into his own version of the Wild West.
You see, our democracy allows us to throw bad politicians out
of office when they go against the will of the people they
represent!!!

So maybe it’s time to throw Rick Olson out and replace him
with a true Progressive who will stop the radical gun owners
and racist sympathizers.

But the filing deadline for a primary is March 19th at 5:00
pm -- and is fast approaching. All it takes is fifty (50)
signatures on a petition and for an individual to sign a form.

	For more information, go to:

http://www.sos.state.ia.us/elections/electioninfo/Primary/index.html

Stopping the right-wing attacks on our Progressive values
starts with good folks like you. You see, for years now, I’ve
worked tirelessly to achieve our common dream of a more
Progressive Iowa. An Iowa where everyone is treated fairly.
An Iowa where no Hawkeye has to worry about some crazed
right-winger opening fire on them or their families.

That’s why I’ve worked for years as a social worker. And
that’s why I’m currently living in Ames getting ready to
pursue a Masters Degree in Political Science so I can work for
social justice and to promote equality for all Iowans. But
now, your State Representative Rick Olson is doing everything
he can to stop you and I from turning Iowa into a leading
Progressive state.

For over five years now, Rick Olson has had his chance to
help you and me achieve our goal. But he’s sat idly by while
the wing bats on the right get more and more of their radical
agenda through the State Legislature, and now he’s gone so far
as to team up with the NRA and racial profilers to work
against us. So here’s what you can do to help.

First. Contact Representative Rick Olson at 515-265-7658 and
give him an earful. Tell him to stop selling Progressives out
by working with the NRA and those who look for every excuse
they can find to throw minorities in prison.

Second. Tell ALL your Progressive friends and family about
Rick Olson. And if they’re eligible to run for office,
encourage them to run. Here’s a link to the Iowa Secretary of
State website that contains information about running for
office, including a Candidate Guide that explains the process
step by step:

http://www.sos.state.ia.us/elections/electioninfo/Primary/index.html

Third. Keep fighting for our Progressive values. If good
folks like you and me back down because of a few rotten
apples, the right-wingers will achieve their dream of turning
Iowa into a mid-western fascist paradise.

But your action is needed immediately if we’re going to stop
Rick Olson and his newly found right-wing buddies. Please do
all you can to help stop Rick Olson from selling us
Progressives out by calling him at 515-265-7658.

							For Social Justice,

							Ellen Grinard-Schnieder

P.S.	Democrat State Representative Rick Olson is teaming up
with the NRA to pass a bill that would make it easier for
Iowans to carry guns on our streets. Not only that, but he’s
also supporting a racist texting ban, which would give cops
another way to throw more minorities behind bars.

P.P.S	So please, contact Representative Rick Olson at
515-265-7658 and tell him to stop teaming up with Karl
Rove-style right-wingers or find another job. And if you’d
like more information, please feel free to email me at:
egschnieder56@yahoo.com.
