does anyone here think that Loebsack would have been a better choice for senate? |
|
I for one think so because he doesn't have the dirty laundry that Conlin does. Conlin of course had a DUI in the 1990s, and has been criticized for not paying taxes, and also for running a controversial slumlord business. Second, Loebsack did the unthinkable four years ago by unseating a 15-term incumbent. Third, he has political experience. Conlin has never held an office in her life and its been 28 years since she ran for an office.

2. Yes, Loebsack would have been better, for the reasons you mentioned |

and I also think Braley would be an excellent choice.
But, realistically, this race is an uphill climb and it would be for whoever we would have nominated. If we lose this race, it doesn't change the balance. If, when Harkin retires, we don't run someone really strong, it will change the balance. I would love to see both senate seats be blue, but I'd rather have one than none.

Cut from Reply #2 http://demopedia.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=152x22380He started by saying the huge difference in wages should be looked at. He then too a short break. I was totally caught off guard by what followed. The way he stated it was 'some people get $25 an hour. Their wages need to come down and get more in line with what the Chinese make. Then we can start making stuff over here again.' end cut Eat it Chuck. Just Go Home.

4. Neither Loebsack, nor Braley ran. Conlin is a good candidate |

and as usual for a democrat is not given a fair shake while Grassley could run over an old lady and be praised. - Taxes? I don't know the details, but I understand she and her husband had tax credits from building low rent housing and the media has totally distorted it. - Slumlord? Really? could you back that up? I do not know DM but slumlord is a pretty nasty charge. - DUI? yes she made a mistake, a serious one. She no longer drinks. She has many times over tried to make amends. When someone does this, I am willing to forgive even Republicans who err. If the remorse is sincere and there is a change. Something about ye who have not sinned cast the first stone...... - Loebsack's victory was truly remarkable. But it wasn't Dave alone who beat Leach. It was the hard work by thousands of volunteers making calls, writing LTTEs, knocking doors, marching in parades. Dave knows it was the work of thousands. And in order for any Democrat to unseat Grassley it will take even a greater effort. - But if you think keeping one of the worst senators in the senate is worth getting back at Roxanne for some of her sins, so be it. Remember Chuck will screw six ways from Sunday in another term. Perhaps someone would care to list Chuck's sins in a post.......
