2. First Branstad, now this.
Throw in Grassley and moving to Illinois is looking better all the time. Unless they elect Brady as Gov. and Kirk as Senator, not to mention Schilling as 17th district rep. Yuck. There may be no sane place to go.

3. ""The judges are supposed to follow the will of the people."

Raymond Curran, 46, of St. Olaf said he will vote "no" because he views current office-holders as pushing their own agendas.

"I have no problem with gay rights, but it just seems like it's being rammed down our throats," said Curran, who trucks fuel to farmers and contractors in northeast Iowa. "The judges are supposed to follow the will of the people."

Craig Chumbley, 58, of Cedar Falls said he intends to vote "yes" to all three because he sees the removal campaign led by Vander Plaats as an attempt to intimidate judges.

"They're trying to politicize the rule of law, and I think it's ridiculous," said Chumbley, who works in an engineering firm. "I get the sense that the people who are voting against retention don't understand the role of courts. These are the people who weren't paying attention in government class."

6. The stupid. It burns.
"I have no problem with gay rights, but it just seems like it's being rammed down our throats,"

--Nobody is forcing anything down your throats. You don't have to get gay married. You don't even have to attend a gay wedding. You don't have to do anything differently than before. :grr:

"The judges are supposed to follow the will of the people."

--No, the judges are supposed to follow the constitution. :banghead:
