Manhattan (Kansas!) demonstrations |
|
A couple hundred Manhattan High School students were out this morning taking part in their "straight/gay alliance" and showing their support for voting "no" on tomorrows marriage amendment that discriminates against gays. My understanding is that it is the only High School in the state with such an alliance. Fred Phelps group was also at Manhattan High picketing against the students.

1. We have the alliance here in Topeka |
|
too in at least one of the High Schools. Hooray for these kids. I am so happy they are involved. We have had a whole bunch of fired up High Schoolers working for our councilwoman race and on this issue. It is so encouraging.

3. I believe at least 2 hs in Wichita have them. And the Ark City the |
|
local school board was going to close all school groups rather than allow a GSA. That effort failed, however.

I'm very glad that other schools have them as well. I was told they didn't; obviously some of the kids are mis-informed.
I'm proud of the youth of Kansas. Whether one agrees with them or not, they are not afraid to stand up for what they believe. Kudos.
Of course, the conservative Manhattan paper had nothing about it this afternoon, at least not that I saw from the on-line edition.
