Correction on 2 CD congress candidate - it's Nancy! |
|
and not her husband. Rex called and said there had been a misunderstanding about whom the candidate will be, the husband or the wife. It is now clear that the candidate will be the wife. In other words, Nancy Boyda is throwing her hat into the ring once again and will run against Ryun.
Ryun will try to run from his abysmal congressional record and the donations he has accepted from DeLay but he cannot hide!

I am happy to hear this. Are you going to be working for her?

I will work for her. She came closer than anyone has in a long time and I think she's matured both personally and politically. She's less afraid of letting it rip.

gain her ear let her know this for me please. If she supports gay rights she will have loads more volunteers. I believe she came out against gay marriage. I am not certain where she fell on other issues about the gay community but I do know it was a sore point with a lot of people and rightly so.
If she has changed her response to those issues I can work for her, otherwise she will just have to count on my vote.
I am pleased that she is running, we have to get rid of Ryun.
Edit to change Ryan to Ryun (I can't ever remember but I suppose if he ever was responsible enough to answer me I might not have that kind of problem! ;))

but I cannot get 2005 election results because they are in accursed excel format. As far as I know, the marriage amendment got hammered in most parts of Kansas. She might gain volunteers, but she would lose voters.
Also, I just checked and found that she does not have a website listed at politics1.com, although there is one for a Republican opponent of DM and one for a Democrat running against Tiahrt. Can we please get someone to run against Moran?

John Doll is running against Moran. So far there is no one against Tiahrt.

There will be a candidate against Tiahrt. But will there be candidates against every St. Board of Ed. incumbent who voted to insult the state of Kansas?

5. I am very glad to hear that she is running again |

I wonder when the local newspapers and TV will get the news?
I think she definitely has a leg up on anyone else who might defeat Ryun. He should be beatable since our district went for Gore in 2000, or have the boundaries of the district changed since then?

I was at our Kansas Equality Coalition meeting last night and someone there told us that Nancy decided that she would support GLBT rights. I hope this is correct and that she holds to that.

10. Bush Admin Protest in Wichita Next Thursday |
|
I am sorry to piggy back, but as a new poster I appear to be unable to start a new thread. I would like all Kansas DUers to be aware that there will be a protest rally in Wichita next Thursday evening (Dec. 1st) from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm outside Century II (north side in front of Douglas Str.) in downtown Wichita. This time and site was selected because former Prez Bush the 41st will be speaking that night at Century II. Though we aren't protesting him in particular, we are certainly using this visible public appearance as an opportunity to speak out against the current Prez, Ryun, Tiahrt, Phill Kline, Kay O'Connor, Connie Morris etc. If the weather is bad we will move inside the auditorium of the Wichita Public Library (next to Century II). There will be 5 speakers, including John Doll, the only declared Congressional challenger to date (against Jerry Moran), Debbie Wadman, WSU professor and human rights activist, and Julie Burkhart of ProKanDo. Bring your signs, and march with us!

and don't worry about the piggy back thing, it should not be too long before you can start a thread. No certain number so just keep trying.
I wish I could be there. If I get the chance I might try to make the trip.
