Amy Goodman Speaking Event in Baton Rouge

Just received this email from LA Indymedia:

What role did the media play in the run-up to war? How can citizens
cast intelligent votes if sound-bites replace real news? If you're
concerned about the state of our media, you won't want to miss a
presentation by journalist Amy Goodman, host and executive producer
of the award-winning news program, Democracy Now!
http://www.democracynow.org/

Goodman will appear in Baton Rouge on Friday, April 7th at 7:30 p.m.
in the LSU Journalism Building's Holliday Forum. Her talk is titled
"Media-ocracy: How the American Media Compromises Democracy," the
speech that earned her a standing ovation at the national Free Press
Conference.

Goodman's presentation is free and open to the public. Sponsors
include the Baton Rouge Six, the LSU Manship School of Mass
Communication and the Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs, the
LSU Department of Communication Studies, the LSU English Department,
and the Bienville House Center for Peace and Justice.

Prior to the event, a dinner and book signing* will be held at:

The Beauregard Gallery
715 Europe Street
Baton Rouge, LA
(5:30-7, $35)
For dinner reservations call 225-766-7253 or e-mail
vlanc@bellsouth.net by April 3rd.

* Amy is co-author of the national bestseller, "The Exception to the
Rulers: Exposing Oily Politicians, War Profiteers, and the Media That
Love Them," written with her brother, David Goodman. The book was
chosen by independent bookstores as the #1 political title of the
2004 election season. The book was also chosen as one of the top 50
nonfiction books of 2004 by the editors of Publishers Weekly.

We look forward to seeing you at this important event.

Sincerely yours,
