House panel OKs Jindal-backed private school tax break
Edited on Tue Mar-11-08 09:36 AM by Magleetis
BATON ROUGE -- Parents of students attending private schools in Louisiana deserve a tax credit to offset tuition bills, a House panel decided Monday.

Isn't it the wealthy folks who send their kids to private schools. Why give them more tax breaks.

This will only hurt the public schools.

Typical repug strategy.

1. private school tax break
I'm not wealthy, but I'm looking at private schools because the public schools do not have the time needed to teach my intelligent ADHD child! She is falling behind, every year her test scores slip a little more. I would love some help paying for a school that can teach my child and stop paying for one that does not have the time because they have another 29 kids to teach and probably only 10 in the class that are getting it the way it is being taught. If your kid is outside that box, you need to look for other alternatives. Just give me the taxes I've been paying the past 20years for a system I can't use.

2. moving to private schools
only encourages what the Republicans want to do, get rid of all public education, it plays right into their hands. Of course you must do what's best for your child though, that's what Republicans count on, and not public demand for better schools and appropriate spending on them.

None of us can fight them singularly.
