Rush Radio in New Orleans
New Orleans has been out of Air America for over a year and a half. We now have a creature called "Rush Radio" right smack dab in the middle of the fm dial 99.5 to be exact. The station is a right wing extreme all star showcase. Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glen Beck, Dennis Miller, John Osterland (complete idiot), as well as some local yahoos.

Glen Beck for example has a commercial with snippets of a rant he went on about how poor people arent his problem (or anyone elses) .

This is in New Orleans. Its discusting in a city with such a crime/poverty problem.

The fairness doctrine cant return soon enough.

1. I can recall when WRNO 99.5 used to be a great station

I was in high school in the New Orleans area from '76-'80. East Jefferson High in Metairie. WRNO was AOR (Album Oriented Rock) and a fantastic station. WNOE FM 101.1 was also a rock station. I remember them well as I listened to little else. I visit NOLA from time to time and the stations mostly suck now. WRNO has fallen long and hard. I listen to WWOZ or WTUL when I'm in NOLA now. I was there about 2 weeks ago and saw those big disgusting billboards with Rush Limpdick's image all over town.

Edit: I recall that when callers would call and win something, the DJ would ask them "What does WRNO stand for?" The answer was always "We're the Rock of New Orleans!" Perfect call sign letters for that era!! Now the station just sucks.
