Dutson to blog from I. Lewis 'Scooter' Libby trial
SEARSMONT (Jan 18): Blog writers will sit among credentialed journalists in a federal courtroom for the first time in history this week, and, in another first, a sitting vice president will likely testify.

Lance Dutson will be watching it all — and writing what he sees.

Selected to be among the bloggers who will rotate into two credentialed media seats for the I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby trial under way this week in Washington, D.C., Dutson cannot ignore the irony of writing a blog about a case where the media is a central player.

My favorite angle is the concept of the trial itself and Libby as the most interesting player, with the battle between the media and the government at center stage," said Dutson, who writes a blog at MaineWebReport.com and runs Maine Coast Design, a website development and marketing company.

Dutson made headlines last year in Maine when he took the state's marketing firm to task, saying it competed against Maine businesses as part of its marketing strategy for the state tourism department. The agency filed a lawsuit against Dutson, but dropped the case after attorneys for the Media Bloggers Association and others rallied to Dutson's defense.
