I need some help with rental pellet stove insurance info
We are moving and our new landlord has agreed to let us have a pellet stove. The new place is a duplex. He wants a pellet stove on his side also. We purchased our pellet stove already. He called us today and said that his insurance company is telling him they will not insure the home if the rental side has a pellet stove in it.

To me this does not make sense because many rentals have wood stoves and pellet stoves. Our current rental has a wood stove. Does anyone rent here or know of an insurance company that will allow a rental with pellet stoves? My landlord is saying that he will go with another insurance company if we can find one.

There is no way we are going to be able to afford heating with just oil this winter. We had to get assistance last year from LIHEAP, CITGO/Citizens Engergy, and The Salvation Army. That was with the heat turned down to 62 all winter and going through 4 cord of wood.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

1. Call an insurance broker. They will know immeadiately if there are any plans available.
It's what they do. Don't go to something like state farm. Go to a real broker.

2. thank you so much
We are desperate and our landlord sounds like he was really nervous when he called us. This is kind of stupid, but should I just look in the phone book for that area (Camden)? My husband is not happy at all with the situation.

3. Phone book will list them
Don't worry if the broker is small (even if the office is only two people). Even small brokers usually have access to all the plans available in the state.
