well, we went last night. No lines no waiting. On a friday night too. It's usually a mob scene. Vendors are down too. Apparently they doubled the cost for a vendor to set up down there. No line at the eating tent either.
Went to the parade today. Susan Collins was running down Main St. shaking hands, no boos, but certainly quiet. Then the Knox County Democrats came through and I heard plenty of cheering, I have pics and will try to post them later. One person was carrying a sign "republican for Obama!"
We'll have attendance reports by monday or tuesday I bet. Last year they claimed we were up, but it was a similar situation...no lines, no huge crowds, so I have no idea what they're going to say about this years.

1. I thought it was funny the Republicans had an old Rolls Royce |
|
but then I had to shut up when then the Dems came down the street in a newish Aston Martin DB7...
I went down to the festival on Saturday night and it didn't seem as jam packed as it once was a few years ago. Little Anthony & The Imperials didn't end until 10:45, so that was a lot of music entertainment for $10. The guy on the mixing board seemed to fall asleep at times, and the "mist" was a bit thick, but beyond that it was an enjoyable show.

could have had a mini DU meet up! :hi:
I'm hearing the estimates are 10-20% down from last year.

4. thank you for the pictures |

We wanted to go, but it took longer to move than we anticipated. Then the weather was not that great on Sunday, so we did not feel like dragging the kids there for them to get upset if it started to rain on them (two four year olds and a five year old don't do well in those conditions).

5. the festival hasn't been "all that" for the past couple of years |
|
anyway. The parade was a bit longer than usual too because one of the mini cars stalled out, and when it got started up again it lurched forward and hit a kid (kid is fine btw) but it did hold the parade up and extra half hour or so. There's always next year! There is a great children's tent I bet the boys would love.

We have never made it yet since we moved to Maine. I guess we'll go next year for sure.
We definitely will go to The Common Ground Fair in Sept. That is the kids' favorite fair. They could spend all day in the children's section at that fair.

Is held in Unity in western Waldo County on the weekend closest to the autumn equinox. This year it's Sept. 19-21.
