LePage PAID Tea Partiers and others to ride with him on his whistle stop tour. Anywhere from $50 to $750 dollars. What??? He can't get volunteers? What typical RePUKE astroturf crap this is. Write letters to the editor and call him out on it ! Also, he said in his LAST reporter interview that he "doesn't know much about the Tea Party movement," and yet he has attended their events, calls them the next "revolution," takes them on his campaign tours, and says "They support me, and I support them." Is this guy totally braindead or just a bad liar? He also said he "doesn't know how to contact Libby Mitchell". Ever hear of a phone book? How about the internet? WE MUST WRITE MANY LETTERS TO THE EDITOR TO SPREAD HOW HORRID THIS GUY IS !

1. Not doubting you but do you have a source?
Is it proven that he paid people? Like I said, not doubting you but I'd like to be able to quote something definite.

Thanks for spreading the word.

3. Yes, here as quoted directly from the MPBN news website (July 26th):
"The LePage campaign called it the 'freedom train' and more than 80 people paid between $100 and $750 a pop to accompany the candidate on whistle stops in Wiscasset, Brunswick and Bath and dine on brownbag lunches packed by members of Maine's Tea Party. In an interview with several reporters between stops, LePage said he didn't know much about the movement, even though the recently adopted state GOP platform is backed by the Tea Party and includes language to (among other things) restore Constitutional Law as the basis for the judiciary; seal the border; reassert the principle that ‘Freedom of Religion’ does not mean ‘Freedom from Religion; eliminate the Department of Education, the Federal Reserve and investigate collusion between government and industry in the - quote - 'global warming myth.' "

You mean to tell me this idiot says he "doesn't know much about the movement" and yet is right in bed with them even paying them to tour with him? He's either completely nuts or a bold faced liar. Unreal.

2. This guy has you really freaked out it appears...
Hey, he creeps me out too.

As I mentioned on another thread, I don't think we should ever take for granted the fact that he could win the election and that we should never be oblivious to the possibility. But honestly, I think he is too extreme for a decent percentage of R's, let alone I's, U's, and the rest of us.

Of course there is the possibility that the I candidates (Moody and Cutler) could throw a loop into this scenario by cutting into traditionally left (or right) leaning vote tallies, but really, even in Maine as in anywhere, it's alot harder to run without a strongly established party backing you. BTW I know very little about Moody... For all I know, the uni-brow guy could possibly cut as deeply into the R vote as Cutler with the D?

So anyway, back to LePage... If he is truly as weak a candidate as he appears (at this point)... Yes to being vigilant, but no to losing too much sleep at night over it. My biggest concern with him has more to do with his giving a platform to the Tea Baggers then anything else.

BTW- I still intend to write a letter though. :-)

win in this state. What we all need to do is bash him relentlessly with letters to the editor (and in through all other means of media as well) and make him a completely unplausible candidate. It must be a constant and relentless barage. Any "moderate" support he might have that would never vote for Libby will go to Cutler. Libby then must shore up her base, get some of the thoughtful mods aboard, and do an outstanding GOTV operation. If she does that, she can win it because in the end Cutler will hurt LePage more than he will hurt Libby. Cutler is the only real Indy threat. And what about Cutler? He's an opportunist who was a Dem for 40 years, then became a RePUKE, and is now an "Indy" out there bashing unions, wanting to close the local community schools and replace them with charter schools, and he's out bashing Dems as well as bashing LePage. (Bashing LePage is the only good thing he's doing). Cutler is running because he doesn't like paying his property taxes down on the southern Maine coast, and he has made millions as a lobbyist for China. All this is beginning to come out.

6. ***** PLEASE DISREGARD THIS THREAD. I MISREAD THE SOURCE. SORRY.******
Sorry folks. My bad. I misread the source. At first I though it said the LePage campaign was paying people to ride with him. It says the riders paid it themselves. Well, let's just make sure they wasted their money. Again, sorry. Honest mistake.
