Here is the deal with the governor's race in Maine folks:
Edited on Wed Sep-22-10 04:36 AM by RBInMaine
1) Libby has been EVERYWHERE: parades, festivals, downtown business walks, gatherings, meetings, house parties, ... ALL OVER THE STATE. Just follow her website and Facebook page. It is all there.

2) Libby refuses to attend debates where ALL the candidates are not invited, and she is right for doing so. That is why she missed a few. However, she has been to most of them, and there will be MANY more. ** Remember, LePage missed the first two because he was out raisng money with Tea Partiers etc.

3) Go to your local Dem office or contact your county committee for signs and bumper stickers. The issue with those is that as a Clean Elections candidate Libby has not had as much money for these. **They are coming out now. Many have been put up in my area. ** Also, you can make your own signs too. Don't forget that.

4) Libby also has less money for ads, but they are starting to come out. **** Please donate to the state party so they can start running anti-LePage ads. FUNDS ARE NEEDED. (The Democratic Governors Association is helping some. But we need MORE help.)

5) The challenges here are that we have a recession cycle, a motivated R base, a less motivated D base (as of now), 8 years of a Democrat in the Blaine House, and Eliot Cutler who is siphoning D voters as of right now (but he can't get above 12% in the polls). LePage also has the TeaWhackos helping him a lot.

6) What we have in our favor is a candidate in Libby Mitchell who is very smart, energetic, and a damn good campaigner, an electorate still with MANY undecides, a Republican who really can't break out of the high thirties, Eliot Cutler who, again, can't get past 12% (there is a chance to shift his support to us when they see he can't possibly win), hardworking Democrats with many state offices and many progressive organizations throughout the state, and LePage himself who is a Tea Party extremist whacko if we can get people to see that very clearly.

7) Our best hope is to WORK and DONATE. That means we need people writing letters to the editor against LePage and FOR Libby, phonebanking (even from home), door to door canvassing, putting up signs, putting on bumper stickers, talking to friends and neighbors, etc. etc. PHONEBANKING and DOOR TO DOOR CANVASSING are MOST effective and most important. Even an hour here or there helps.
And please DONATE WHAT YOU CAN to the state party. Ten bucks, five bucks, whatever.

Libby CAN win if we work hard enough and attack LePage effectively, and our other candidates can do well too. Chellie is WAY up, and Mike Michaud is doing well so far too. I think we'll keep the Maine House, and the Maine Senate is close either way. So let's WORK and get it done. THANKS.

1. She's got to start worrying about herself in the debates and not the also rans
If the campaign thinks that strategy of wanting to include everybody in the debates is somehow building her as a candidate, they're completely wrong. She can't throw away any more chances to get her message, whatever it is, out there. The only coverage I've caught of her from the Press Herald has been about poor poll results and how she decided to skip some debates. Voters have learned nothing about her as a candidate.
