price of heating oil in maine
Edited on Sun Dec-11-11 08:42 PM by luckyleftyme2
We all know that heating oil(#2) is cheaper to refine than gasoline! we also know that neither the fedral or state government charge highway use taxes for it!
that alone is close to a dollar a gallon and the refinery cost is aprox 25% less than gasoline!
Now if gasoline is $3.299 per gallon then heating oil should be around $2.399 a gallon.
Also the average dealers who deliver are a handfull compared to the gasoline stas.
so therefore to distribute oil to dealers is far less expensive! In fact the dealers go to a tank farm! usually within 30 miles of their business! I doubt the cost of delivering the oil from the storage area to the customer is over 25 cents a gallon. So why is the cost to customer so high?
