U.S. Sen. Candidate Kevin Zeese Declares 'No Confidence' in CA-50 election
Zeese Calls for Hand Recount in Busby/Bilbray Election
It is impossible to have confidence in the vote count in the Busby/Bilbray election when the security of the electronic voting machines was so lax, e.g. allowing judges to take machines home the night before, when combined with the well documented ease of manipulating the machines in ways that could effect the vote count by itself raises serious doubts about the accuracy of the vote count. Election officials in California and throughout the country know that the machines used include illegal interpreted code that allow for manipulation of election results. The security holes in these machines allow for software to be changed in ways that could effect the vote counting in a matter of minutes, and yet these machines were without security for many hours. In order for this election to be accepted as legitimate there must be a full, transparent hand recount of the voter verified paper ballots. Thankfully, California -- unlike my home state of Maryland, requires a voter verified paper ballot -- but there is no use to this ballot if it is not used when doubts are raised. The resistance to this recount only adds to the lack of confidence in the election results. This is an issue of national importance as Americans are losing confidence in the basis of U.S. democracy -- ensuring that every vote is collected and counted as the voter intended. A transparent recount can only have positive effects no matter what the outcome.
