1. Well it is like this
if Steele wins either he had help stealing votes or people are a lot dumber and I have been giving them lots more credit than they deserve. Most die hard repubs I know are not voting at all because " they are all liars and thieves." I say not even for local elections? You don't have to vote for Sen. or Gov. and can still vote for the local people. So now a lot of them plan on voting for our first elected school board, county commissioner etc. but leaving Gov. and Sen. blank. I always warned them they will repeatedly be warned they left some races unmarked but they can tell the machine they did it on purpose.

I figure if I can't convince them that Cardin and O'Malley are better then well hell let them leave those races blank.

3. We'll be fine, don't be so pesimistic
Steel is a slick one, but I absolutely refuse to believe half of Md's Dems would vote for that two-faced Bush puppet. It's gonna be a battle though. Which is exactly why Im about to stop wasting my time on here and go play taxi driver, dragging every donkey I know off to the polls till they close.
So lets go give em hell troops! Peace

5. Finished my voting and it
was packed. This is the first time I have ever waited in line for more than a minute or two and today it was a half hour wait. I was pleasantly shocked.
Called and visited friends and neighbors to remind them to vote. None of the Republicans I know voted. Standard answer when I ask why, they are all crooks, don't like any of them so not wasting my time. These are people that are friends that argue politics with me that didn't vote.

6. You are not the only one
I just got back from working the polls in Anne Arundel County and the numbers did NOT look good for Cardin-- I was so upset. I hope and pray it was just my county-- I know they were saying Steele was way ahead in the polls in Anne Arundel County but it was just awful looking at those numbers.

7. I know how you feel
Living in a fairly prodominantly Repuke area, it can seem glum at times and make you wonder what the hells wrong w/ people. But have faith in the great state of Md. There are wayyy more of us out there than it sometimes seems

8. I've lived in AA for years
And have watched it become more and more red. Cardin's campaign never seemed to get moving here.

10. Isn't Steele basically a dem?
Edited on Tue Nov-07-06 10:26 PM by Canadian_moderate
I'm not from Maryland, or the USA for that matter, but I get the impression that Steele is not really a republican.

BTW, my wife lived in Harford County, MD. She was a nurse at Johns Hoskins who moved up to Canada and married me. I checked Harford and it looks pretty conservative based on the early returns.

11. HARDLY
Thats what he spent his whole campaign trying to convince people of. (b/ of Mds 2-1 ratio of Dems to Pukes) Truth is he's a Bush nazi thru and thru planted here by Karl Rove to hijack our state. The only way he could possibly have been elected is if they tricked people into thinking he's a moderate.

14. I'm glad my wife didn't vote
Edited on Tue Nov-07-06 10:49 PM by Canadian_moderate
She's been here for 6 years now and feels she's not entitled to vote b/c she doesn't know the candidates. She only votes in presidential elections and at least has voted for Clinton (2x), Gore and Kerry, thoguh she's still registered as a republican. I'm not sure how that works, but I think she must have initially have been registered as a republican in the late 1980's.

13. Steele has tried hard to
make people think he was Dem, but he was the head of the MD Republican party.

Harford Co. is pretty red still. I live across the river in red Cecil Co.
