This August is the make-or-break month for health care reform.

Can you come to an event with Rep. Niki Tsongas in Chelmsford tomorrow?

Right-wing extremists are crashing tons of events—so it's up to us to make sure the majority of folks who want reform get heard. We need to make sure Rep. Niki Tsongas knows that constituents are counting on her to support health care reform with a real public health insurance option that will expand coverage and bring down costs for all of us.

We have numbers on our side, but Rep. Tsongas won't know it unless we all show up. Critical votes on health care will come as soon as Congress returns to Washington, so there's no time to waste.

We're in a critical month for President Obama's agenda. Corporate lobbyists are trying to weaken or kill both his energy and health care plans.
And recently, right-wing opponents of President Obama's agenda have been hijacking town halls and other public events. They're even using fraudulent tactics, like bringing in people who don't even live in the area.1 We urgently need to make sure everyday constituents are heard in the public debate over health care—and coming to this event is a timely and easy way to do that.

Tsongas to host Congress on Your Corner Program in Chelmsford Saturday, August 8 at Chelmsford Town Hall

CHELMSFORD, MA - August 5, 2009 - Congresswoman Niki Tsongas announced
today that she will be moving the location of her Congress on Your
Corner program in Chelmsford on Saturday, August 8 from 10:00 am to
12:00 p.m. to the Chelmsford Town Hall gymnasium located at 50 Billerica
Road. The Congress on Your Corner had previously been scheduled to
occur at the Market Basket in Chelmsford but due to heightened interest
it will now be located at the Chelmsford Town Hall gymnasium.

Congresswoman Tsongas is very grateful for the generous hospitality
Market Basket has afforded her office by allowing fifth district
constituents the opportunity to meet with their Congresswoman at dozens
of Market Basket locations throughout the district since she was elected
in 2007. The program is part of the Congresswoman's constituent
outreach service and offers the opportunity for Fifth District residents
to share their thoughts with Congresswoman Tsongas regarding health care
reform or other legislation in Congress and happenings in their
community, as well as to seek assistance with any problem they may be
having with a federal agency.

"Accessibility and accountability to the families of the Fifth District
allows me to provide you with the best constituent services possible,"
said Congresswoman Niki Tsongas. "I want to make it as easy as possible
for people to come see me and share their opinions, ideas, and talk
about their needs - especially when we are debating such transformative
legislation like health care reform."

Congresswoman Tsongas will have congressional staff with her and will be
available to discuss any issue or concern on the minds of Fifth District
residents. She will also be able to collect the appropriate information
about an individual problem someone may have with a federal agency so
that her office can assist in helping to resolve the matter.

"My most important duty is to make sure that I remain in touch with and
am easily accessible to the Fifth District residents I represent,"
Tsongas added. "I want to know how they feel about the bills Congress
is considering, and I want to be able to connect with people to make
sure they know of the many ways my office can help. I look forward to
meeting as many people as possible at my upcoming Congress on Your
Corner."
