Barney Frank Endorses Michael Capuano for US Senate, MA.
Barney Frank Endorses Michael Capuano ...

"Dear Friend,

Having suffered the frustration of the difficulty of breaking through logjams in the United States Senate, and also having worked as a colleague of Mike Capuano, I can't think of anything better to do in the immediate future than to send Mike to the Senate to join those who are already fighting to try and reduce the dysfunctional nature of that institution. America has to make some tough decisions in 2010, and it is important that they be made with a proper respect for the values that represent the Democratic Party at its best. I can think of no one better than Mike Capuano to carry on that fight.

Vote for Mike Capuano for the US Senate on Tuesday, December 8th.

BARNEY FRANK

P.S. If you wish to make phone calls on election day, please call Mike Capuano's campaign office at 617-868-2009 or visit this link:

1. Think the Standard Times took Barneys endorsement
into consideration before they made their decision and endorsed Martha? Thanks for sharing though. I implore folks to make their own decisions on who they want to represent as opposed to looking to politicians and encourage folks to check out the candidates websites. The question we need to decide, give the past and present state of affairs, particularly in Washington... is "who will get results... where's the action, who will make sure the money gets to the real small businesses... who will not be afraid go after the banks and tell them no."

Barney Frank also endorsed "fake progressive" Joe Sestak for US Senate in Pennsylvania (LOL!/ goodluck w that one). Kind of a loss of credibility there because Martha like Arlen Specter is against this surge thankfully as is Mike Capuano too. But, Barney knew this and also knew prior... that Sestak campaigned as the "warrior against the war" and then turned around and funded the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars and now wants to surge despite unrealistic and "land of make believe" 18 month time table. Anyways, i think you get the sub issue point (about being against the war and pretending to be). That lessens Barneys endorsement in my eyes... Barney should not feel compelled to stick his nose in Pennsylvania politics and should only concern himself with Mass politics.

Here's Martha coming out against the war. Im glad she's came out to join Murtha, Specter, and Doyle; etc against it. She's our Financial watch dog :), not an objector that would let this pass without a fight! As a new Mass voter im exicted we have four truly great candidates. Ive always liked Steve Lynch alot too.. he would have been a good candidate if he would have ran!

4. Lynch = anti-choice

It would never have happened and that is simply reality.

13. That article is not about Coakley coming out against any war. It's about her saying
she is not yet convinced that sending more troops to Afghanistan is warranted. In that article, she is not opposing any war, or even opposing the Afghani surge. She is saying only that she has not yet heard enough good reasons for the Afghani surge.

14. Same thing she's saying about a second stimulus package.
I'm not so much voting for Capuano as I am voting against Coakley.

3. We all get to vote by secret ballot...
Of course people should make their own decisions, just as I have.

I posted because this endorsement by Barney Frank is a newsworthy event. People respect Barney Frank as well. Frank is a smart, savvy legislator.

At this time in history, I think we need a seasoned, progressive legislator to take Ted's Senate seat. Capuano is that person.

helps the person he didnt endorse.... no offense). My favorite barney frank was the healthcare town hall he did this summer. Talk about getting some pop corn, curling up on the couch and watching cspan :) I would pose, why have 9 newspapers endorsed Martha? Frustation i have is Capuano voted to bail out AIG etc, and the entire congress simply FAILED to institute responsible procedures for the program to make sure it was carried out the right way. Mike was there, he was one of those 'ayes' wasnt he?

8. Capuano voted against the Iraq War resolution and the Patriot Act
Not many did that. He also voted against No Child Left Behind because it was an unfunded mandate.

10. His committees:

He is a member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, the House Committee on Financial Services and the Committee on House Administration. He is chair of the Subcommittee on Capitol Security.

He is a firey guy. I saw him speak and answer questions at a local restaurant a couple of weeks ago. I really enjoyed it when he was talking about being a regular guy, as opposed to most of his colleagues in Washington, and he said that he's (probably?) the only one who lives in a two-family house, that most of them don't even know what a two-family house is. :-) He threw it out to questions and did a good job of answering whatever was thrown at him.

6. I think he was one of the very first to endorse Capuano. Good for him.
I hope he can mobilize enough people to win on Tuesday.

We have good candidates, but I worry that a small participation can give unpredictable results, like Pagliuca (Please no. Not him).
