Several TV channels predict Coakley Dem win, Brown won Republican primary |
|
Channel Five and New England Cable News, and Globe all called election within an hour of closing polls
Coakley with over 45% of vote in four person primary. US Representative Michael Capuano holding about 25% of votes.....other Dems each at 13% or so, with 45-50% of votes counted. Only 15% of 4 million registered voters actually showed up.
We have ANOTHER woman Senator, (Mass would NEVER elect a white male Republican in these days!) in January, January 20, the day after the final election Jan 19.
It is predicted that Obama and/or Biden will come to Mass before the final election on Jan 19, probably early in Jan.

1. it would be very foolish for the Coakley campaign to assume they can |

coast to victory . . . I'd like to see them put real energy, and a vigorous discussion of real issues, out there between now and January 19, to make sure that that "white male Republican" (a type more appealing to more MA voters than the media seems to think) stays put in MA.
Though expected, I found the low primary turnout, for such an important election, nevertheless disheartening, and the quotes from cheerfully uninformed, uninterested, "busy", and/or unregistered voters in today's Boston Globe even more so. Hopefully MA Dems will bestir themselves to do what needs to be done on Jan 19.
