The Brockton Rox offering the world's most expensive hot dog for $80
Edited on Thu Jul-14-11 05:30 PM by Ian David
Very clever: the Brockton Rox (independent; Can-Am League) will be selling the world's most expensive hot dog -- an $80 frankfurter complete with truffles and caviar -- in an attempt to set a Guinness World Record.

The Rox hot dog consists of a half-pound all-beef foot-long hot dog, deep fried and rolled in truffle oil, then coated with porcini dust, sprinkled with white truffle shavings, and topped with dollops of creme fraiche, caviar and fresh roe. The dog will be served in a blini roll.

<snip>

The record is currently held by the Foot Long Haute Dog, which sells for $69 at Serendipity 3 in New York City and was introduced on July 23, 2010.

For those not wanting to spend $80 on a dog the Rox will also be giving out vouchers for a free standard hot dog to the first 1,000 fans through the gates on July 23, courtesy of Kayem Hot Dogs and Calise Bakeries.
