I'm moving back to Michigan sometime the week after this upcoming one. If I read the SOS website correctly, I've can register to vote there by Oct. 6th. Then I need to get a state ID card by Election Day. Do those steps sound correct??

1. You definitely have to register by October 6 |

You supposedly need a photo ID in order to vote, but if you don't have one they still have to let you vote. You're supposed to be able to sign an affidavit that you are who you say you are. To play it safe, I'd try to have that photo ID, though.
From what I can see on the Secretary of State's Web site, you don't have to be a resident for a certain amount of time in order to register, however, you do have to be a resident for at least 30 days by the time of the election in order to vote.

I also believe your temporary license should suffice as ID if the photo one doesn't get there on time.
