Pony Up for Tony!
(slightly copied from a similar Kos diary)

I bit the bullet and made one last donation to Tony. Please, if you have any to spare, do the same!

Tony has (IMHO, which is admittedly not expert) a better chance than some "higher profile" challengers nearby, who get a lot of attention from the party and from activists. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Nancy Skinner, and want to see her knock off Knollenberg, and would love to see Jim Marcinkowski kick Mike Rogers' butt out of congress. But, did you know that McCotter won this district by LESS than either of those two publicans? 'Tis true:

From http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2006/Info/fullhouse.html

In 2004:
In MI-08 Mike Rogers got 61% of the vote
In MI-09 Joseph Knollenberg got 59%
In MI-11 Thad McCotter got 57%

Another poster on kos pointed out that all of those three got more votes than bushit did in 2004. McCotter was the closest to bushit in that comparison, so that might explain the focus on the other two - the further they are from bushit's vote, the more "out of step" they are with their district. Still, though, these numbers aren't chopped liver:

% Vote for bushit
MI-08: 54% -- Rogers got 7% more than Bush
MI-09: 50% -- Knollenberg got 9% more than Bush
MI-11: 53% -- McCotter got 4% more than Bush

H/t to other72384 at Kos. Read the rest of his comment here (I'm "KarenJG" over there).

And, as a post below notes, Tony was within 3-5 a week ago. It's doable! With a little help from his friends!

Please, if you can, kick him a few bucks. I want to be represented by a Democrat again! (I still miss Lynn Rivers!)

1. The most vulnerable GOP seat in MI was always McCotter's
IMHO, of course.
