So I sent Timmy the Tool an email pretty much calling him
Edited on Mon May-18-09 08:08 PM by dflprincess
a Pharisee and a hypocrite for protecting the wealthy from tax increases while taking medical care away from the poor. I quoted Christ's remarks about the least of his brethren and the line by their acts you will know them (telling him Jesus certainly wouldn't recognize T-Paw) because there's nothing Christians like Tim hate more than being reminded of what Jesus actually said.

I thought of mentioning that this is what you have to expect from a man who'd let his wife lay on the floor with appendicitis while he took a shower but I'll leave that line to someone else. (anyone, anyone?

The canned response I received is just a hoot:

Thank you for contacting Governor Pawlenty’s office with your thoughts. Because the Governor’s e-mail gets several hundred e-mail a day this reply is set up to notify you that your important message has been received.

Messages are routed to the appropriate person for assistance or compiled by issue area for the Governor’s review. Please know that your comments are important to our office and will be thoroughly considered.

If you need immediate attention, please call the Governor's office at (651) 296-3391 or 1-800-657-3717.

Thank you for taking the time to contact our office. Active and thoughtful citizens like you make Minnesota a great state in which to live.

The temptation to respond back and tell him it's politicians like him that are destroying Minnesota is great.

1. One of the members of my church wrote him a letter
(posted on the church member's Facebook site).

You are free, in a democratic society, to have your own policy choices. However, I will strenuously object if you ever again try to call yourself a Christian person.

I have an M. Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary, with an emphasis in theology and public policy. There is not any way that you could (if logic and fairness and integrity matter at all) even begin to imagine that slashing the medical assistance of our most vulnerable citizens - only to protect others' overconcentration of wealth - is something that a true follower of Jesus Christ, in the Governor's Mansion, could do.

That is so far beyond the realm of Christian ethics and stewardship priority, that I will do everything in my power to deny you the right to mask your greed by using the name of the Saviour of the world, in vain, calling yourself a Christian, if you do not change your ways. Have your policies if you want, but don't you dare defame my Lord's reputation with them!!

This IS something for which the use of the very strongest language is appropriate.

2. I'm hopeful he will hear that from many people
I don't have a lot of hope that it will change his mind - but stranger things have happened.

4. Thanks for sharing that.
And that church member is 100% correct. And I often try to see other perspectives, so the fact I am 100% behind something makes it pretty serious indeed. Tim is no Christian, not even in nominal form.

3. Oh, that reminded me...
I'd been meaning to write a letter to the Strib, so I just did so.

Timmy's a fundie republican, like Bush. He has a vision that is reality- and history-proof. He's Palin with a brain and external genitalia.
