KSTP just released a poll on the various DFL candidates vs Pawlenty
I can't believe that Pawlenty beats all of them, but Dayton and Ryback do the best (43% & 42%) respectively which makes it nearly a dead heat for them. I was surprised Chris Coleman didn't poll better, but maybe his last name is confusing people.

1. The link is broken.
Anyway, I support Mark Dayton over anybody involved in how RNC protesters were treated (Chris Coleman, R.T. Rybak, Susan Gaertner.)

2. Here it is

Well, all signs are making this poll irrelevant as Pawlenty is not looking for a third term, but to run for President in the 2012 GOP Primary. Also, after these cuts he plans to make really hit home, expect his ratings to drop.

3. The fact that he still rates so high says horrible things about us Minnesotans

4. people haven't forgiven Chris Coleman he let his city be taken over
by the neo-con police squad and Sheriff Fletcher and his Goons.

He is also a Conservative tool. I'd rather see his brother Nick run for Governor, he would at least Govern for the people.

5. If Chris Coleman runs, the opposition will run 30-second clips of cops in riot gear
And they should. His behavior leading up to, during and after the GOP convention is a disgrace ... his political career should be over already.

6. I agree
but, sadly, I'll bet at least half the state didn't pay attention to what he did before, during & after the convention. I'll still bet with most people it's negative name recognition for him.

I doubt the opposition (unless you mean the primary race) would run commercials like you describe. After all the Republicans are the ones who want to squelch dissent so they can hardly slam someone for doing in the name of protecting the RNC.

When does Coleman come up for reelection as mayor

7. If Matt Entenza wins, there will be no shortage of negative material
Campaign violations, sleazy investigations against his DFL opponents and lying about it, his wife's tens of millions of dollars in United Health stock options, his ill treatment of House employees. The DFL should send Entenza packing with the rest of his baggage. It's time we have a candidate with some integrity.

8. Most people disliked Chris Coleman long before the RNC convention
Especially DFLers. The RNC convention has little if anything to do with it. Most people in my neighborhood (which is right next to the XCel center) thought the cops did an okay job, given the circumstances.

9. If he is so unpopular, especially with DFLers
Why did he have no opposition to getting the DFL endorsement? Why does he have no credible opposition for reelection?

10. He's got the $$$, and the support of key DFL leaders at the neighborhood level
Plus, nobody else wants the job that badly-- at least, nobody with the $$$ to mount a serious opposition.
