Hey my fellow Progressives, help me out. |
|
I'd like to hear from those of you that lean hard Left as I do regarding Matt Entenza and where he stands policy wise. I like what I heard from him so far, but I haven't heard enough to make an informed opinion yet. With caucuses being this evening, I'd like to get a handle on what you "Lefties" are thinking.
Thanks in advance.

1. He's electable, along with three others. |
|
I can't support Archie Zweiback, due to his actions during the Republican Convention. Entenza is one of the candidates I could support, but I'm caucusing tonight for Kelliher. I believe that Entenza has said he will not abide by the DFL endorsement if it's not him, so he's out of the running for me. If he ends up being the endorsee, I will support him during the general election.
None of the candidates are as progressive as I'd like, but this is going to be a tough election, so I'm going to go with a solid Democratic candidate who can win. We cannot put another GOOPer into the Governor's office.
This could be a close one in the General Election.

2. I could not support Entenza - I think he is a weasel. |
|
He was the one who decided to investigate Mike Hatch 4 years ago and it's generally thought that he's the one who was going to go public with Dayton's problems with depression. I received a call from his people the other night and brought up the Hatch deal and their only defense of him was "he (Entenza) wasn't indicted for doing anything wrong". I pointed out that Bush hasn't been indicted for starting an illegal war either - but that doesn't make it right.
Several years ago, right after I was laid off, I ran into him at a DFL picnic (he was still in the legislature). I was telling him how people who had been laid off by the same company in other states were getting their banked vacation time as well as their severance pay, but we in Minnesota were not because Minnesota law did not require it. He actually seemed interested in this until he asked me where I had been working. As soon as I said "United Health Group" he couldn't get away from me fast enough. Which was dumb on his part as what I had been talking to him about was unique to UHG, it was Minnesota law, but his wife was a wheel at UHG and I suppose he didn't want to risk hearing any criticism of his major source of income at the time.

3. Entenza is a liar without ethics |
|
Matt Entenza is trying to buy the governor's office with the tens of millions his wife hauled in from UnitedHealth. That's a fact. He's got a history of lying and campaign violations. That's a fact. Half the DFL doesn't trust him and the other half is on his payroll. I wouldn't vote for him if we were running against any of the likely GOP candidates. Anyone can come up with the "right" positions on the issues. But when it comes to character and honesty, Matt Entenza finishes dead last.

That's what I was looking for. I'm more interested in what they do, than what they say.
