Request to sponsor me in the Walk Against Weapons.
Dear DU'rs ,

On Saturday, June 5, Women Against Military Madness will be sponsoring the third annual WAMM Walk Against Weapons, a highly visible, three-mile walk starting at Bakers Square in Eden Prairie and ending at Alliant Techsystems, also in Eden Prairie.
http://www.worldwidewamm.org/special/walk10/walk10.html

I hope you can join us for the walk.

If you cannot walk, * I would be very grateful if you would sponsor me.*

** just this past week Senate voted for 33Billion more to the war effort, and we learned 2000+ MN National Guard are heading to IRAQ, again.. some for their 5th tout

In that case, you would make a check out to WAMM and send it to 310 East 38th Street, Suite 222, Minneapolis, MN 55409, indicating in the memo line indicate walker:"annm4peace"
Any amount is greatly appreciated.

As you probably know, the Walk Against Weapons is a fundraiser for WAMM, but it is also related to the vigils that we have been doing at Alliant Techsystems for the past 13 years.

Alliant Techsystems is the largest weapons manufacturer in Minnesota and has been a primary supplier of depleted uranium munitions, cluster bombs, and landmines to the U.S. Department of Defense and many other countries around the world. These indiscriminate weapons are illegal under international law because they keep on killing long after a war is over . . . and the primary victims of unexploded landmines and cluster bombs are children. The depleted uranium munitions also give off radiation poisoning to our troops and the people were they are used, causing rare forms of cancer.

Alliant sells these weapons through more than 60 international sales offices and they frequently end up in the hands of oppressive groups or governments.

I want to thank those of you who have already signed up to walk or have sponsored walker. Your contribution will help WAMM to continue opposing militarism in all its forms, to continue making the connections between militarism, economic injustice, empire-building and racism, and to use the creativity and passion of our members to oppose oppression wherever possible.
