Thanks a lot, Supreme Court. :sarcasm:

1. I saw my first "Emmer" bumper sticker today
I was surprised how normal the car's driver looked. I think I expected to see Satan behind the wheel.

I have made a point of mentioning Emmer everytime I've eaten out since his comments about tips and I'm pleased to report I haven't run across a server who doesn't know what I'm talking about and (because I make my attitude plain) makes it clear who they won't be voting for.

2. I just heard it referred to as "Waitergate."

Think I'll start chatting up the waitstaff, too. There have to be a lot of people who are or have been restaurant workers, who might not think too much of Mr. Emmer.

3. I saw my first Emmer political sign this past weekend
I think it was just south of St Cloud.

5. That's Bachmann country
I saw one in Bloomington along East Old Shakopee Road on my way to work this morning. It wasn't there yesterday morning.

I imagine the nut who lives across the street from my mother will have on up soon. Maybe he'll replace his "Say no to socialism" sign with it.

7. There are quite a few signs up here in the Fighting Eighth.
Of course, you can pretty much figure that the ones with the signs are the only Emmer voters up here.

4. Interesting list of corporate sponsors there.
From your link:

Minnesota Forward has raised $460,000 so far, almost all of it from just four companies.

Target Corporation gave $150,000. Three more each gave $100,000: Hubbard Broadcasting, the owner of KSTP-TV. Polaris, the snowmobile company. And Davisco, the Le Seur-based food product company that owns Cambria, a company that makes countertops and similar surfaces.

Here's another link with a little more info and a link to their finance report:

http://politicsinminnesota.com/blog/2010/07/campaign-finance-snapshot-new-biz-pac-mn-forward-raises-460k/

However, that $460K looks pretty paltry compared to the $2 mil raised by the Dem PACs:

On the Democratic side, the 2010 Fund and another PAC, WIN Minnesota, have raised more that $2 million combined. Such independent-expenditure PACs can raise more money than candidates, whose campaign-finance reports aren't due until July 26.

Good to know the PACs are rolling in dough. I can't wait to start fielding calls from the candidates begging for a contribution. Good luck with that. I'll just sit back and let the high-rollers duke it out, thank you very much.

Greg Palast was right. We do indeed have the best democracy money can buy.

6. Interesting about Target although my past research on them has shown that they
tend to give about as much to Dems also. Who knows....

8. We need to vote with our pocketbooks
I am always surprised that many who complain about Target keep right on buying Target stuff that is largely produced by near slaves. If folks stopped buying Target stuff, Target would have to shape up. We have to get the word out on socially responsible consumption. At some point, those who buy the Target stuff become just as bad as Target.
