Legislators seek to make embryonic stem cell research a felony
"Several Minnesota Democrats :grr: :nuke: :argh: :wtf: :banghead: joined with 31 Republicans in offering a bill Wednesday that would ban embryonic stem cell research in the state under the guise of banning “human cloning.” The Human Cloning Prohibition Act of 2011 would make somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT), a component of creating embryonic stem cell lines, illegal and would impose a felony charge on scientists who conduct such research. Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life, the main proponent of the bill, has stated that creating stem cell lines is akin to killing a human being."

The party isn't worth a god-damned thing anymore.

1. sad especially seeing as how the UM is doing quitea bit with stem cells
and I am wondering about bone marrow transplants too, there are some that where a genetically matched sibling is used, one that is 'bred' for that purpose there was one a few years back where due to the disease the transplant was being done to treat was genetic so the sib or sib to be had to be tested for gene causing the disease in vitro at the zygote stage , as I remember the case made national notoriety but as one the genetics researcher said to me and I agree a clump of cells is NOT a human being

2. Per the article these are the 3 DFL reps involved:
"On the DFL side, Larry Hosch of St. Joseph, John Ward of Brainerd, and Lyle Koenen of Clara City."

Three too many to be sure. At least, again per the article, no DFLers in the Senate are involved.

3. I could never bring myself to wish Parkison's on anyone.
But I wish they could have seen my Dad's ten-year struggle, and explained to me why they would quash the research that could spare millions from the cruel fate he so stoically endured.

I wish they could meet my neighbor Carla, a woman still in her thirties with young children, and explain to her why she must not be spared the ravages that her Parkinson's will otherwise inevitably wreak upon her.

5. since GOP and some DFL support "LIFE" lets show them how we are doing
Why not make some postcards with pictures from this site and tell them, how about cutting the funding that is killing babies that have been born.

caution. Many of the pictures on the site are horrific. But there are also articles written by reports from all over the world about what is happening to the people in Afghanistan.

RAWA is an incredible women organization
