Rollcall!
Please check in with the city or county that you are from (MO and KS both). I see some newbies here and I would love to give them a shout-out!
Plus, we can all get to know each other better.

I went to school in Saline County, Missouri and now live in Johnson County, Missouri.

I am in Springfield, (Greene Co.) Missouri. And the amusement park of fundies doesn't stop in Branson, I'm tellin' you! Springfield is rife with redness...a condition I hope to change in 2006 with the election of more Dems.
I am the Organizer for Springfield's chapter of Democracy for America. We are looking to network Dems from all the areas nearby and have a real base for once. Wanna help? ;)

Texas is more of a hell-hole politically. Dallas is pretty much a lawless place (a part of the reason why my wife moved).

She feels safer in Jefferson City. Although the Missouri governor is already pissing her off.

63. New York City Boy, trapped in Missouri and MAN, DO I WANT OUT!
But, I'm dealing with it.
I work in Overland Park for that big telecom conglomo.
18 years now, as a matter of fact.
If it wasn't for my job, I would be out of here in a NEW YORK MINUTE!

But, it's all good.

I'm tryin' and I'm hanging in there with my friends at DU helping me to cope.

I live HERE.

That's the City Market area, in downtown baby.

I'm a city guy, living in the Newark, New Jersey of the Midwest!

It's a struggle for me, living in a part of the country that thinks it's OK to ban same sex marriage, and tell me that the freaking' dinosaurs used to play with Adam and Eve's grandkids.

You have to play the cards you are dealt, and right now I got a full house, so I ain't complaining.

But hey, anytime Missouri is ready to join modern times, I'm here to hoist a shot of Chinaco Anejo with ya!

The BEST thing to come out of Missouri?

Pat Metheny, of Lee's Summit.

It's ALMOST enough for me to forgive all of this states transgressions!

65. I'm a transplant too.
SE Wisconsin here-right on the WI/IL border. Right now, MO/KS needs more transplants to help change the way things are going around here!

I went door-to-door in ref to the gay marriage act-and had many slammed in my face. I was one of the 20-something percent who was adamantly against it. Now I have friends who are considered to have no more rights than a pre-Civil War slave (IMHO). And my daughter will learn about evolution-whether at home or at school. This is one child who will not be left behind.
Robin Carahan will be someone to keep an eye out for in the future. I think that she will help things in MO considerably.
I hope to get to some of the DU meet-ups this summer-child care is a big factor during the school year. I am also trying to get interest in one here in Warrensburg-I think that it could go over very well, especially when CMSU is in session.
And I did laugh about KU-not their biggest fan.

Here's your welcome:

And here is what a couple of KU fans are saying behind your back right now:

the St Louis area. This is as far south as I ever want to live. I've lived in St Louis 17 1/2 years now. It's not perfect but it is an improvement over very Repugnican Springfield IL.

I just cannot believe the amount of racism in and around St Louis as well as the number of fundies around here. Oy vey! I still meet people in St Louis who have never known a Jew before they met me.
