Did Anyone see Jack Danforth's Editorial in the NYT's? |
|
He calls the Republican party the political arm of the conservative Christians. This is really a scathing attack - and from a minister and a conservative Republican.

3. He was the US ambassador to the UN |
|
for about six months and then he just quit - no explanations. He was gone. I wondered what happened.
And this article is very critical of the Missouri legislature as well.
What happens if a political party becomes a religious party? If the Republicans have become simply the political arm of the conservative religious right - is that constitutional? Have we ever had to deal with this before?

4. Cspan spent quite a bit of time on this column this AM. |

I was pleasantly surprised that a lot of the Pub calls agreed. Most of them said the vocal RW is NOT the majority of the Pub Party.

7. I saw that too late - but this is an important issue for those of us |
|
in Missouri. Jack Danforth has been an important part of our politics for a long time. And this outspokenness on his part is very surprising. And I think it may be a very important sign that there is starting to be a real split in the GOP.

8. Danforth is a national and international figure and that makes it mean |
|
a lot for us too. Somehow, though I don't think the republicans will change anything. The fact that Santorum went to the circus in Florida yesterday to "pray" with the Schindlers shows they are going full bore into mixing government with these religious issues. He is the #3 republican in power in the senate.
