I oppose anything that spends money. OTOH, We're going to have to improve roads at some point before trafic gets truly bad, so like part of their argument says, we might as well do it before interest rates go up. OTOH, I really hate spending the money. If I still lived in Lincoln, I'm not sure how I would vote either, although I'm pretty sure I wouldn't bother to vote in a special election! Sorry, that was no help.

I was thinking the same thing. Might as well do it while the interest rates are very low.But more than likely I'll vote against it because 68 million of the 71 million are going to new areas in town and not some of the older streets that need repairing.

I was all for the bond issue until I received an email that listed the journal and the streets and trails web site, asking me to research the issue and get out and vote. The email closed with a little ditty about "remember our troops are fighting in iraq to protect our freedom the vote"
Turned me sour on the hole enchilada. So I marched and voted a big fat NO.
I hate these guys grabbing the coattails of the assault in iraq for everything.
I would have probably voted for the bond - we bike and I am pro Lincoln, But not in the mood after that - plus the email was from somebody on the comittee.......GEEZ
I think we have some poor planning, I live in an "older" suburban area along hiway 2. My bookmobile went away so it could travel out to some of the newer areas. My neighborhood is 25+ years old and we are still waiting on our street trees - new areas have theirs. I say pass along the cost of the upgrades and facilities in the newer areas to the builders and let then pass it along in the lot prices. It sure would make some of the established area in Lincoln a little more appealing.
Maybe we need a casino in lincoln or something more than nu football to generate revenue for streets and trails?
This is not over. I hope the city council and mayor can come up with a viable solution.
