Post your Nebraska caucus experience here |

Mine was at Western Hills Magnet School. There were Hillary signs all over and no Obama signs. There was a line out the door, snaking around the gym and up the stairs. When I was going through the gym, it was probably 3 or 4 to 1 in favor of Obama. I was working on an undecided voter the whole way, but she still said she wasn't sure. By the time I got my blue sheet, they were putting people in a hallway. There were a few undecideds which both sides got to try and convince. The Hillary person was just some random person who said something about experience. The Obama person was someone that sounded like they had practiced and gave a speech worthy of Barack himself! Someone said the gym was absolutely packed and split about 50/50 (which is hard to believe but that's what he said) Obama won the hallway though 287 to 69! It only took a little over an hour.
Forgot to mention Ben Nelson and Mike Fahey were there

1. My gf said her caucus ended up |
|
A little over 1,000 for Obama and 200-something for Clinton. People were leaving because it was just so crowded and miserable.

5. I didn't see people leaving... |
|
Until the end, of course. But considering we started pretty much on time at 10:00 and got out by 11:15, we did great.
And it was only crowded if you were on the Obama side of the gym. ;)
I was in the crowd on the floor, but I didn't think it was horrible at all. At least we didn't have to go outside to caucus like some locations did.
It was great to see Jim Esch there. I hope he runs again for something. He's a good guy.

I ended up being nominated by my neighbor to be the caucus secretary for our precinct. The whole site had a bunch of precincts, overflow crowds, they were moving people all over the building just to give them space. We ended up caucusing in the hallway. In the end in my precinct 68% went for Obama, 32% for Hillary. We had 4 total delegates to handout. I am very proud to say that I am an Obama delegate to the Lancaster county convention.

I volunteered to be an Obama delegate, but they decided to have the campaign volunteers who had worked so hard at our location be the delegates. I think that was a sensible, good decision. They did a great job and deserved the reward.
I have a friend in Fremont who wasn't even sure she'd be able to make it to the caucus. But she did, and she ended up being an Obama delegate, too. That's so cool.

7. How exciting to be at LHS |
|
So much good history at lincoln High School. Ted Sorenson and Dick Cavett are just two of the wonders that are graduates!
Way to go!

8. I'd never been inside the building before |
|
And I didn't get to see much except the cafeteria and hallways around it. They are doing to renovations in that area now. But at first glance it kind of reminded me of Central high school in Omaha. Obviously not as cool of a building, but it still reminded me of it.

9. My Caucus was incredible |
|
It was wonderful to see such a wide scope of people all owning their own views and ideas. The doctor, the woman that lived in the middle east, the retired steel worker, the professor, the Viet Nam Vet, the ex-Marine, oh I could go on and on. We had about 100 people. Everyone that wanted to share was able to speak. Hats off to the Lancaster County Democrats because it all fell together like clock work.
We registered a dozen new voters. We went solid for Obama - with about 4 people sticking to Clinton and 2 undecided. We delivered 5 Obama delegates. It was just a wonderful night. Watch for new exciting things from the Lancaster County Democrates....Whoo Hoo!
And the repubs are worried....

10. Very frustrating experience |
|
It was horribly run, people got up and walked out when only one side was being heard. That side was very loud and throwing insults, mostly very young people, led by a "life long republican". I was very disappointed for my daughters who were so excited to participate in a "first". Not a good experience at all. Location was Cass County

our caucus was very civil and orderly considering the huge turnout.
