1. Source?
Does this info come from the Democratic Party website directly or some other source?

Sorry, I could not tell from your post.

3. The info is from the Democratic Party website.
I attended the Gathering on the Great Plains yesterday. I don't think we had more than 100 people attend.

We can't introduce candidates if we can't organize. We are in crisis in the red states. Our party is in peril. We must ENERGIZE and ACTIVATE!

7. Chase County
My understanding is that Chase County does have a Dem Chair, he is just totally inactive.

I am surprised to see that Dundy County has a party chair. How do I find out who that person is? The Dem Web site isn't opening any info past the page head.

On a related topic:
I see in a press release from the NE Repugs they have hired a new executive director, Jessica Moenning. She says among the first things she will focus on is candidate recruitment for the 20 legislative seats that are term limited.

Damn, the Repugs are even actively recruiting for non-partisan races. We Dems need to get focused on this too.

It is critical that we shore up our strength across the state, including getting party chairs in every county, and start recruiting and supporting Dem candidates for every office possible, in every county possible, and not think we can simply fall back on Lincoln and Omaha to carry the day.

That tired plan just isn't cutting it any more.

2. You're lucky
We have a chairperson in our Florida county, and your vacant positions probably do a better job. Ours is so incompetent, she undermines everything we try to do.

I was at a DEC meeting yesterday, and these people were walking around smiling, as though we won an election. Every countywide candidate we had, was thouroughly routed, including incumbents.

4. Less than 1,000 people live in some of those counties
There may be no one that will admit to being a democrat in some of those counties. Hard to believe no one in Buffalo county, for one, is willing to be County Chairperson. Isn't there a professor at UNK that would do it? Yeah, though, we're not even in the game in much of Nebraska.

5. The population is sparse.
But there are isolated democrats there. We can't get the Democratic message out if there are no messengers. We elected a carpetbagger VAT (simplify our taxes) proponent to Congress this year against a lifelong Nebraska FARMER for the love of God! Not because he was a better candidate, but because Cheney came to Lincoln to help him raise money and because he has an (R) after his name.

This is insane!

6. Yes, me and my left leaning friends were
pretty upset over the Fortenbury win, but we had expected it. I didn't realize he was a carpetbagger. Hagel kind of was too. It's too bad the dems can't bring in any big guns to counter bush or cheney. I suppose the best we could do is bring in Bob Kerry except he probably wouldn't do anything for us and he's not incredibly popular anyways. I think people lump all democrats into a Hollywood elite, latte drinking wine tasting east coast liberals, and that's totally not what we are all about especially in NE. I think most NE dems are just normal people who have come to realize that the repubs don't care about us and are not acting in our best interests.
I don't live in Nebraska right now, but I did for a long time and plan to move back soon, but my friend said that Fortenbury was running smear ads that were just ridiculous and about irrelevant nonsense.

8. There are more rural Dems than you think
they just have never been asked to play any kind of role and are isolated from the Dem party heads communication-wise.

There needs to be some outreach iniated from Lincoln or wherever the Dem HQ is. The Dem leaders have done a lousy job of promoting the party even to their own party members in this state.

Come to Lincoln on Sunday for the 51 Capital Protest! Bring the kids. You'd be a welcome guest at my house for the event.

11. You are too kind and generous
Thanks for the offer, but my daughter is home from college this weekend and we live five hours from Lincoln.

Tell me more about the 51 Capital Protest plans.

And I am serious about helping get the Dem Party active, unified and mobilized across the state. I can do a lot in SW Nebraska and have some strong contacts in other parts of the state west of Lincoln. I know you are active in Lincoln, what precise steps do I need to take to help?
