Dog tied to railroad tracks; Culprits sought
A Nebraska woman is looking for help in finding the person, or people, who tied her 11-month-old Siberian husky to railroad tracks near Lake McConaughy, where he was struck by a train. Kobe was tethered outside his home May 27 when he broke free and disappeared. The dog's body was found Saturday, tied to tracks between the Sandy Beach and North Shore access roads to the lake, said Kobe's owner, Randee Romine. Whoever left him there used what was left of the same lead that Kobe snapped when he broke free.

"It was knotted to the railroad track — someone intentionally did it," Romine said. "They used the same leash."

3. What is wrong with people?
That is disgusting. I hope they catch those people and punish them to the full extent of the law. If they'll do this to a dog, they probably have no regard for human life either. This is why pets shouldn't be left outside. There are too many nuts and psychos out there and a "tethered" dog is a golden opportunity for them to act out their horrible fantasies. This makes me sick.

6. I cannot imagine.
How one can have absolutely no sense of empathy for a helpless animal. It's not hard to see why that's an indicator of bigger troubles.

4. I have a Siberian Husky
and this story hurts. They are wonderful dogs - pains in the ass, but wonderful. The day after we brought our daughter home from China, she met Bragi, the SH, for the first time and it was love at first sight for both of them. To this day, she can get that dog to do things for her that he won't do for my husband or me. They aren't big as watch or guard dogs, but when she and he are out in the yard playing, I don't worry about her safety because he would protect her to his death. Poor puppy.
