16. No, this really isn't all of them.
I'm a third generation Nebraska Democrat. I just got back from Broken Bow, Nebraska, to hear my grandma talk about how much she likes Hilary Clinton.

19. Dawes county
Greetings from the Nebraska panhandle. Every day I see fewer and fewer pro-Bush/pro-War bumper stickers in and around my town. It might not mean much, but it sure helps my blood pressure.

21. Hi BensMom
Yes, I'm in the land of Willa Cather... well, in the state where she spent her early years and also wrote about, anyway.

Dawes county is 69, which includes Chadron, where I live. It's a small college town.

I know this administration is no friend of the cattleman or rancher...

23. Amazingly,
despite this being farm and ranch country, Democrats in and around Chadron appear to be few and far between. Maybe fewer pro-Bush bumper stickers are a sign some of them are waking up, though. From what I've overheard ranchers say to each other in cafes and stores, they support Bush because they think God is on his side. It's that weird patriotic-religious thing. Plus, they think he supports good old-fashioned family values. I've also heard a few of them say that it's too bad that the Eye-rackees don't appreciate everything we've done for them. Yes, Bush is bad for farmers and ranchers economically, but they don't seem to get it.

24. Better Late than Never
Just wanted to say hello. I'm new to the DU and a relatively new Dem. I voted for the Dems in 2004. Maybe things will get better for us in '06 and '08.

Signed - Another Dem in Omaha

25. Hello fellow Nebraska DU'ers
I usually hang out on the "Latest breaking news" section and haven't been to the Nebraska section for quite a while. WOW, it's really grown over the past few months. Being a liberal isn't always easy. I recently joined a military blog with people I was stationed with in Germany. I've was called unpatriotic because of my views and caused some to flee the site. Oh well, some just can't see the light with their heads up their @sses. Being under-employed, seeing corporations send good paying jobs overseas and republicans in this state not seeing this is frustrating. I recently asked someone who earned a unemployed PhD in genetic engineering what he would suggest a young person study that wouldn't be subject to outsourcing -- I just got a look like "der". During this last general election my neighbors, parents, (ex)girlfriend, several other friends all registered republicans voted for Kerry. Kerry/Edwards yard signs, I thought outnumbered Bush/Cheney signs. Bush took the state by roughly a 2:1 margin. It's a battle. There's stuff I'd like to say here but you know the NSA is watching. Ya think maybe?? When's that Harry Reid guy comming to town?

27. I'm in Omaha, too...
I've been lurking on DU awhile but am trying to stay more active. I've lived in Omaha most of my life, and was raised Republican. I credit the GOP for converting me to the Democratic party. I was becoming too ashamed to be part of something so utterly against my values and beliefs. So you can't say they never did anything positive. :)

My husband and I would like to get more involved in local Democratic activities, but we aren't sure how. Any ideas?
