Where did this come from? Gas Pipeline
Looks like we have been duped by another big Oil Company.
What about the environmental in pact?
Any Public Hearings?

And just another chain to fossil fuels.
And a profit for a company outside the United States.

Pipeline to cross eastern Nebraska

TransCanada Corp. announced Tuesday that it is proceeding with plans for a $2.1 billion pipeline that will carry petroleum from Alberta through eastern Nebraska and on to Illinois.

Speaking from the company’s Calgary, Alberta, headquarters, Chief Executive Officer Hal Kvisle confirmed earlier expectations to build a 1,830-mile-long system capable of carrying about 435,000 barrels of oil per day.

“Construction is proposed to begin in late 2007,” Kvisle said in a conference call with investors and the news media, “with commercial operations scheduled to commence by the fourth quarter of 2009.”

1. About environmental impact.
I just sent an e-mail to Region 7 EPA to find out if an environmental impact study has been done. Will let you know if I get a response.

3. Sheesh. One of the biggest pipeline companies is headquartered
here in Nebraska, Omaha to be exact, and is a partnership between David Sokol and Warren Buffet. Mid-America Energy Corp. Pipelines run through Texas I believe clear up to Illinois. This is nothing new. Just another one.

You want to get real upset? The amount of money they pay the landowners to run through (under) their property a year is around $1000.00. And they're gouging everyone.

4. Re: landowner compensation
What if the landowners refuse to let them lay the pipe?
