In which counties is prostitution legal? |
|
No, I am not planning a trip to Nevada.
I know that it is not legal in Clark county, the one Blue county in Nevada. But I find it interesting that some counties in your state allow or tolerate prostitution, and they are Red counties.
Nevada has a libertarian streak that I think will eventually come back to haunt the Republican Party, if the Democrats can nominate a better candidate in 2008. I think Bill Richardson could win Nevada hands down.

3. Not that I have any experience in that area . . . |
|
but I do teach Nevada history. Prostitution is legal in every county except Clark (Las Vegas) and Washoe (Reno). The idea is that they don't want to mix gaming and prostitution, ostensibly because of the "moral" issue, but in reality it is a question of economics. The casinos want to keep the drunk gamblers in the casinos rather than getting them liquored up and wandering into the nearest "pleasure palace." -Cheers

4. One of the biggest Bush/Cheney supporting counties is Elko County |
|
and the county seat is the City of Elko where there are several brothels right in the downtown! There are also brothels in neighboring Carlin and Wells, tiny little towns. White Pine County has a brothel or two. Storey County, outside of Reno has a brothel or two that I can think of.
You ought to see the City of Elko's city ordinance that manages the business! I should look for it on the city website. It might be on there. www.elkocity.com

5. Need a candidate that appeals to ranchers and miners, and Mormons |
|
AKA, the Redneck Vote.
Environmental regulations on things like water rights, grazing lands, and mines are great Republican fear tactics for many in the agricultural and mining industries, not just in Nevada.
Also, there's a lot of Mormons in the Eastern part of the state (I'm thinking Lincoln county, White Pine, and the one above White Pine). Until very recently, in fact, even Las Vegas was a Mormon-run town, and still is to some extent. Not that I have anything against Mormons, but we've got little chance of attracting them to the Democratic party. Farmers and ranchers, OTOH...
